Hong Kong (6/05): Sleepless Kung Fu

Due to circumstances beyond my control (and its nothing realy worth blogging about) I was only able to get one hour of sleep last night.  Actually, it was more like this morning -- between 7:00 and 8:00 a.m.

Amazingly, I wasn't all that tired during most of the day up until I had to leave for the Kung Fu class Bey Logan had advertised in his blog.  I've been changing the way I eat and I think I'm gaining a su...Read more

Hong Kong (1/8): Home Sick on the Anniversary

Today marks one year of me being in Hong Kong.  I moved to Hong Kong on January 9, which is tomorrow.  I guess today is one year, and tomorrow is the anniversary?  How does that work, excactly?  Meh .. whatever.

Hard to believe how quickly the past year went by, and hard to believe how much stuff happened over the course of that year.

I'm actually home and under the weather right now.  Not the best way to c...Read more

Hong Kong (4/2): April Fool's?

So, I guess I don't know my own strength ...

Or something.

First off, that last entry wasn't true.  It was April Fools Day.  Just assume that no one is telling you the truth on that day.

When I thought about writing a blog, I thought that the only way to actually "fool" anyone would be to make it seem real.  And the best way to add credibility to something is to acknowledge the fact that it shouldn't be credible.

If I had just launched right into the whole "all thi...Read more

Hong Kong (5/27): 500 ARTIST PROFILES!

That's right!  We just hit 500 Artist Profiles.  I can't actually say we have 500 artists, since some of the profiles are for companies, associations or productions.  Actually, if you take those out then we have 452 artists.  And, I suppose if you take out the bands, since those are multiple artists, many of whom already have individual profile pages, then it goes down to 417 artists.

But that's okay!  It's STILL quite a milestone to have reached 500 profiles!

Who did the lucky 500th pro...Read more

Hong Kong (1/16): Quick Update

I've been pretty busy lately and haven't been on the site much.  In fact, I have 260 feeds backed up for reading and I can say with pretty much full certainty that I'm never going to get through them.  So, let's just pretend I did and I will start fresh from today, yes?

So, just wanted to post up a few quick updates about what's been going on with me so far this year.

  1. I signed the lease (and paid a hefty deposit) for a new apartment yesterday.  I move in after the 1st, and I have to ...Read more

Hong Kong (1/28): Update and Stuff

Just an update of what has been going on this past week.

  1. Work: Every day working past midnight and 3 days of all-nighters, coupled with harrowing deadlines, several meetings and and endless stream of things to do has made this one of the most stressful weeks of work I've had since starting up at AnD a year ago.  Thank goodness not every week is like the past week or I'll have to start brushing up my resume and finding work as a Yak Farmer somewhere.  (I mean. heck.  It's 4:00 a.m. on Sunday nig...Read more

ChaoYang (1/4-1/7): Spring Festival in LiaoNing

So, for those of you who don't know, I've been travelling in the frigid north of China for the Chinese New Year.  Liaoning to be more specific.  ChaoYang to be exact.

Monday, January 4

First I flew from Shenzhen to Beijing.  That was Monday night...

Chaoyang (2/7 - 2/12): Spring Festival in Liaoning - Part 2

Let's see .. where was I?

Oh, right.  Evening of the 7th.  Wow ... seems like a long time ago now.

Here are three of the dozens of photos of Wu Di's mom that I took.  Portrait photography is really exhausting.  I can understand why those guys at Sears look so ornery.
