Hong Kong (4/1): Update

NOTE: THIS WAS MY APRIL FOOLS BLOG.  NONE OF THESE THINGS ARE TRUE.

With all these April Fools blogs going up it's going to be the natural assumption that whatever news people give today is going to be some sort of joke.  Kinda like the blogs who cried wolf, I guess.

Pat tried to get me to follow suit and do some sort of April Fool's joke blog, but that's not really my sort of thing so I'll just keep this on the up-and-up.  I don't really have the creativity or brain cells to come u...Read more

Macau (5/15): Sanshou and Wei Jian

I had to make a bit of an emergency delivery to the Chinese team on Thursday so I ended up heading back to Macau for a quick trip.  I told Wei Jian that I would come look for him at the sports arena or his hotel across the street.

So, after arriving in Macau around 8:15 pm, I caught a taxi to the sports arena and caught a bit of the Sanshou divisions.  I saw a couple women fighting and then I managed to snag a few seconds of Men's 54kg Yemen vs. China.  Not particularly eye-opening, as you can see here:

Hong Kong (2/22) : Cell Phone Suggestions?

As some of you might have heard, I lost my cell phone a week ago.  That means I'm in the market for a new one.  But since it's been a good 2 years since I last looked at what was available, I thought I would ask you folks if you had any good suggestions on cell phones.  So, here are the two magic questions:

  1. Hands down, what is your current personal dream phone? and WHY??

  2. Considering that the main features I require are ( 1 ) syncing with outlook on a PC, ( 2 ) Wi-Fi, ( 3 ) Ke...Read more

Shanghai (3/1-4): The Other Side of the Coin

So, unlike my co-workers, I didn't actually come to Shanghai to have fun at the Racks opening.  It actually turns out I wouldn't have been able to get in anyway so I guess it's a good thing I didn't come up on Friday afterall.

But I'm getting ahead of myself.  Let me back up and give you the (extremely long drawn out and obsessively detailed) whole story.

Hong Kong (5/23): Some of the New Artists

Just wanted to highlight a few of the new artists that I thought were pretty cool.  (Of course, this is no way means to imply that ALL of our artists are not cool.)

Shabba-Doo

If you don't know who Shabba Doo is, then you need cool lessons.  You ever see the movie "Breakin'" or "Breakin 2, Electric...Read more

Answers

Someone sent this to me.  I typically hate these sorts of things, but since I wasn't given one of those silly ultimatums like "send this to 10 people or a kitten will die on Tuesday" and I wasn't told to send it to anyone else (which I'm not going to do), I will answer it.

I much prefer being "asked" to answer these questions, than "told" that I've been "tagged" to do so, (lest I incur some mystical penalty).

With that having been said, here are my answers:

Travel Plans for June

I just got my tickets so it looks like my trip is a go.  For those of you who don't know, my sister is getting married this month so I'm heading to the U.S. for the first time in 15 months.  And, if my math is correct, over the past 32 months I've only been in the United States a total of 18 days.  I guess I'm getting a little home-sick (believe it or not).

So, I will spend some time in San Francisco and Seattle.  If you'r...Read more

Macau (5/14): 7th Asian Wushu Championships

I had come in to the office to work on Monday (a holiday) so that I could take Wednesday off to go support several of our alivenotdead.com artists/athletes (and friends) at the 7th Asian Wushu Championships being held over in Macau.

I grabbed a Turbo Jet but miscalculated things and had to wait for a later ship.  I ended up missing several of the events in the morning session, but caugth the tail end of women's taiji...Read more

alivenotdead.com retrospective video

We posted up another anniversary-related video for you to enjoy:

This particular video is the one I put together and it took me a few days to get it right since there were a few issues with various things (which are of no interest to anyone in particular).  But I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I think one of the highlights of the night for me was watching this play on t...Read more
