Hong Kong (2/22) : Cell Phone Suggestions?

As some of you might have heard, I lost my cell phone a week ago.  That means I'm in the market for a new one.  But since it's been a good 2 years since I last looked at what was available, I thought I would ask you folks if you had any good suggestions on cell phones.  So, here are the two magic questions:

  1. Hands down, what is your current personal dream phone? and WHY??

  2. Considering that the main features I require are ( 1 ) syncing with outlook on a PC, ( 2 ) Wi-Fi, ( 3 ) Keyboard (or a really good text input system) , ( 4 ) slim, and ( 5 ) good battery life... which phone do you think fulfulls those the best?

Assume price is not an issue.

I thought the taxi guy gave it back to you? I wouldn't be able to give you valid options. I like pink and pretty. My Nokia 6111 is the best!

Blackberry or maybe an iphone. HTC is probably the best compromise. (touch dual for example). If you want 3G, blackberry or HTC.Sorry I'm not into Nokia. SE has some great phone too. but I don't think any has a real keyboard.

I've been looking at the Samsung F700. It has a keyboard and I think it's touch screen too. My cell phone is kinda broken (and I just got it three months ago). The camera no longer works and the screen is kinda funky.

since i got the HTC TyTn, i'm really partial to HTC lines of smartphones and cell-pdas. brand new version of the TyTn just came out, and the Touch got a boost from a recent bios update. dunno what else is worth getting.

I have a Motorola Razr and I really don't like it at all (but it was free)- probably the shittiest phone I've ever had- the interface is soooooooooo slow to respond to anything it's like it's from 1990 or something. Everyone I know who has an iPhone swears by it now, and my housemate has a Blackberry Pearl and really enjoys the interface... Good luck on the search. Lucky you and I just communicate by email, or I couldn't call you!

1. A cellphone that's got bells & whistles but doesn't have a plan that nickles and dimes a person to death. For you, I would suggest one with a chain or bungee cord to tie around some part of your body, like your neck, or waist, so you don't lose the darn thing! ;P 2. I have no idea. I'm still on dial-up, okay?

damn Mark that's twice in a short period of time, I think you should take JRS's advice ^_~ 1. lol, you know what techno pleb I am, I would be happy with a flip top phone so I didn't accidentally press numbers and call people. 2. see the techno pleb reference above ;P Good luck, I hope you find something that suits all your needs.

I recommend the Sony Ericcson P1i. It's practical, it's got GPS, the mp3 sounds amazing and perfect on a car stereo, the touch screen functions are great. but most importantly, it's practical. My friend even has Homer Simpson giving him directions on the GPS. lol!

I have had my eyes on the Sony Ericcson P1i, but I heard the battery life is pretty poor. I'm more for sticking to Sony phones so I'm useless in helping, I still own a two year old phone! Good Luck with the search.

Get a Nokia. Best battery life and I'd suggest get something clunky so you won't lose it next time!!!

I think you should invest in a nice chain to hang that new phone around your neck so it'll be harder to lose. I have a really old phone. Anything's better than what I got. ;D

If you need proper exchange with outlook, take a blackberry pearl - they are not so bulky...

I'm a fan of the iPhone as it is phone/camera/web browser/mp3 player in one. I also happen to like the touch screen. Don't know the PC compatibility but if that's an issue maybe you should consider a Blackberry then.

Hi Mark Not sure if it's available in Asia but check http://www.flypmobile.com/Helio-Ocean.php it has a great look and is a dual slide to support number and a full key board.

I'm waiting for this: http://en.meizu.com/userforum/forum_posts.asp?TID=1676 Yes, call it an iPhone clone, but after looking at the spects, you'll realize it's everything the iPhone should have been.
