ok ok, i know i haven't written anything in quite a while! in the past few  months i've taken a bit of a break, done a little travelling, and managed to finally make that long motorcycle ride i've been meaning to do from singapore up through malaysia and thailand. still a lot i haven't seen, but there's always next year!

but you know i don't usually blog about personal stuff. i'm in a new play!

"Manhood" by celebrated playwright Desmond Sim, tackles male issues and probes and pokes around them with glee. directed by one of my favorite directors, Samantha Scott-Blackhall, the cast includes Dwayne Tan (also on aNd), Claude Girardi, Jo Tan and myself. while i can't tell you exactly what we do, i guess this poster and the link below should give you an idea, ha ha!

so if you're in singapore between the 9th and 19th of september, take a peek at our Manhood! men and interested parties especially, and i mean ALL interested parties!

    see you there!

  • the biker side of life

    Tuesday, May 5, 2009 1:52PM / Standard Entry

ok i have always kept my stuff on aNd purely work related, simply because that's what i am most interested in, but i guess this is kinda distantly linked, so i'll put it in. some people have asked about my hobbies. and the reason i don't fill out that section in the info bar is, frankly, i have none. i just work and go home. but i do love riding, and i never have time to take my bike to the racetrack, although if i had the time, i'd do it every week.

i love being on the track. and here's where it gets a little weird (but kinda work-related). i think when i'm on the track that it teaches me something about acting. something about life, actually. i love carving the curves, trying to get that perfect line, knowing when to push and when to hold back for max effect. it ain't the speed, or the power, it's the manouvre and control, the beauty of the turn, that gets me. and when i'm tipping into a killer bend, i know i can't pull away, or shy from it. that'll make me fall right over. you gotta go head first into it; that's the only way to balance, to lead with the need, and face it head on. and then, it all makes sense. acting. life. confluence.

ok so enough of that. the work-related bit is, much as i am generally known as a dramatic actor, i love action so much i'd be very happy doing biker movies! i am usually in heavy plays, but if i have time to watch a movie, chances are you'll catch me watching action. for fun. ok fun and choreography!

ok so here's me hard at it. i haven't done it for a long time, but i'm so eager to get out there and burn it this week, i'm blogging about it now!

    i'm back onstage again!

i haven't been onstage since august. was busy directing my musical, acting on camera, as well as coaching actors. but finally i'm coming back to my first love, acting onstage. and i'm in amazing company. the director is tracie pang, whom i've known about 18 years, an award winning director (and also a lighting designer like me, and also wife of my old schoolmate and fellow actor, adrian pang). my fellow actor is dan jenkins, also an award-winning actor who's been making big waves ever since coming to the singapore stage years ago. we don't usually say "co-star" in the theatre, but i guess that's actually what we are, because there's only 2 of us in the whole show, ha! it's a french comedy translated into english, called "members only" so if you're in singapore next month from 15th to 25th april, look us up! we're having a blast with it, hope you will too! check out our website on www.singtheatre.com

    woo hoo!

ok i admit, i am terrible at blogging! i only do it when the reminders are all over my inbox. ok i've been meaning to post this for some time now. last year "kung fu killers" by RHI came out on spike tv in the u.s., and star movies in south-east asia. think you can buy it on http://www.rhitv.com/Movies.aspx?select=all&page=8

anyway, a whole lot of aNd folks are in it, the amazing osric chau, ros pho, jimmy taenaeka, christian lee, anya wu.....wonderful people. we had a blast doing it, hope you enjoy my showreel clip of it. it's a very condensed and reduced edit of the final showdown between Crane (the inimitable David Carradine) and me.
