  • Hong Kong Filmart 2012

    Wednesday, Mar 21, 2012 12:31AM / Standard Entry

Woohoo! The best Hong Kong Filmart I've ever been to yet!!!  Reasons below

Standing with the man responsible for making my dreams a reality. Thank you Mr. Wong for the tremendous opportunity, I will work hard to make you proud.

Incredibly grateful to my boss, Mr. Wong and his company (Mega-Vision Pictures Limited) for putting in the tremendous effort in promoting my next film, "Once Upon A Time In Shanghai". 非常感謝晶哥和他的公司<影王朝>這麼用心為我宣傳接下來的這部電影"上海灘馬永貞".

Really excited about this one too!  I had a great time filming this one and I'm really looking forward to seeing this one on the big screen soon!

Ohhh... a still of me kicking thru the air from "Princess and 7 Kung Fu Masters"!

The RTHK booth just also happened to be promoting a couple shows that I recently worked on for them.  RTHK has always been great to me and for that I will always be grateful

This is going to be a GREAT year.
    God bless everyone!

I've always respected the selflessness of fire-fighters, but after having worked closely with so many local Hong Kong firemen on this project, I've truly developed a whole new level of respect for their commitment to a noble yet incredibly dangerous line of work.

Thank you to everyone for supporting this show!
    God Bless!

  • Work and Play... A-OK!

    Friday, Dec 23, 2011 11:36PM / Standard Entry

Haven't wrote an entry for quite some time now, so I do think it's time for an update here on my favorite blogging site - ALIVENOTDEAD.com.

I had just spent two months in China filming  "笑功震武林" (a kung fu comedy in which I'm not very funny but I do beat a lot of ass) and as soon as I returned to HK a couple of weeks ago, I began filming 火速救兵2 (a RTHK television drama about HK fire-fighters).  Though I have been quite fortunately busy with work recently, I did get to meet up with some old friends (whom I have not had a chance to sit down with in a long while) at a BBQ gathering.

Pictures below tell a better story than I ever could.

With my boss, Wong Jing, during the traditional pre-production 'bai-sun' ceremony.

On location with Action Director, Philip Kwok.

    making movies...

On the set with production assistant, Noel Chan, and co-star, Rose Chan.

With my buddy, Timmy Hung posing for a photo on the set.

With kung-fu cinema legend and co-star, Yuen Wah!

Countless productions film simultaneously in Hengdian World Studios, so one can be sure to always bump into old friends while working there. During my shoot I was fortunate to run into —個對我很好的前輩, my good friend and action cinema legend, Yuen Biao!

After a couple months of hard work, I must say I had a great time working with new friends and old colleagues on this project. Thank you to every member of every department as well as my fellow actors for all of your combined efforts. Can't wait to work together again!

some 'preview' photos from the poster-shoot...

Back to Hong Kong and on location for my next show for RTHK...

Got to work with my good friend Miki on the RTHK show :)

Outside the set on the RTHK show...

    BBQ!!! Woohoo!!!

With long time friends, Leila and Mon at the BBQ :)

One more pic with Leila, my first good friend in the HK film and television industry :)

While I was filming in China apparently some newspaper articles regarding yours truly was published...

Until next time... God bless, be safe, and be happy :)

  • A Few Ideas On Physical Fitness From My Own Experiences and Training

    Saturday, Oct 1, 2011 1:06AM / Standard Entry

Function versus aesthetics;  the two deciding factors of my own physical training routine.  From a martial artist standpoint, training for function will always supersede working out solely for an outward aesthetic appeal, while the opposite is true for someone wishing to mainly to maintain a sort of physical attractiveness.  With that said, I truly believe exercise on any level is healthy as long as it is approached progressively. Before I entered the film industry my training routine was intended to help me acquire the explosiveness, flexibility, and specific muscle-memory needed to complement my martial arts studies.  During this time, I did mostly exercises that required my own body-weight (while I did lift weights during this period, I focused on more repetitions as opposed to more weight).

Currently much of my training time is spent in the weight room building a bit more bulk as I am prone to appear  a little thinner than I would like to be on film.  However, my martial arts studies is still very important to me, so I will spend at least two days out of my weekly training schedule to build power and explosiveness utilizing specific weight-training methods.  But since I would like to maintain a specific physique for work, I have reduced repetitions slightly and added more weight when I lift.  In addition, I like to keep limber and work on specific martial arts movements, exercises, and drills to reinforce my muscle memory in that field.

Mind, Body, and Spirit.  In my humble opinion, all three are important and I believe a person can reap great benefits if all three are trained properly.

And a thank you to adidas for the new set of training clothes.  I especially like the cut and material of the training pants as they are comfortable and truly do not impede any movement at all during any portion of my exercise routine. Thumbs up! :)
