Had a really fun day the other day shooting for Scene and Heard on Channel V! We were shooting at the Asian Gaming Show which showcases new up and coming video games, consoles, and toys galore. All my favorite things! Yes, I'm a gamer, and I'm unashamed . I spend countless hours playing World of Warcraft, some may even call me an addict. I've been playing video games since the Atari, so its been a long standing love affair. So, I completely understood all these kids at the convention. I too have a love for video games. I don't dress up in little outfits to declare my love, but I get it.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of some of the nuttier and elaborate outfits, but Melvin, my producer on the shoot, snapped a few for me...

    Oh wow....Lisa S a WOW player! ;)

Talking of computers/gaming I started real early. I had an Ingersoll-Rand Cartridge Console in 1983 which I am sure nobody here had heard of. All it had was a black and white Ping Pong game which zipped across the screen and a few sports sims. From that I then got my first computer....a Sharp MZ-700, which used tapes to play software, and a Nintendo Game and Watch from HK....at the age of 6! Then I moved onto a BBC B Micro (very popular in UK schools back then) to play Missile Command and Harvey Headbanger. Then Sinclair ZX Spectrum + (to play Dambusters - a WWII sim in '84!), then an Atari ST and Commodore Amiga 1000 to play Outrun and Streetfighter before going onto PCs in the late 80s early 90s to play games like Kings Quest, Space Quest and Grim Fandango. Obviously this was well before Sony brought out the PS in '95 where we began to play Tekken, Air Combat and Final Fantasy - the 3D games were just amazing then, even for now. Then we moved onto the PS2, Xbox, Dreamcast, Pocket NeoGeo, Gameboy Colour and Gamecube - and all the great games on those machines (especially Star Wars and Resident Evil on Xbox/GC, my most fave game!). I missed the Sega Genesis, SNES and N64 completely because I had other machines with better games on them (most notably the PS). Now of course we have the Wii, Xbox360, PSP, DS and PS3....with my latest favourite games being LittleBigPlanet and Rock Band. Talking to Lianne Lin, (another gaming freak here on AnD), I actually have a full guitar, mic and drum kit for it, with drums being my fave! Talk about the evolution of gaming....I think I've practically seen it all! The games are certainly much better quality these days than back then. I don't think I'd ever go back to the early games. :)

I saw some costumes on the local Chinese news. I think they only aired the ones sponsored by the game vendors (?) so they were especially well-decked out. Looks like the costumers have a lot of fun showing off their creations.

    Happy new year!

I went to this convention last year and got to play a demo of "littlebigplanet" on PS3.  Only thing that disappointed me was the fact that I don't really see Nintendo and Xbox being represented at the convention.  Felt more like a convention for Sony and local Chinese game developers.
