Purgatory again...

Am in Seoul, waiting to get back to HK.

Watched The International, Taken, Transporter 3, and The Wrestler (again) on the plane. None of the 3 I hadn't seen before were worth watching.

Slept a little, thanks to a pharmaceitucal care package my aunt gave me. I saved more than half of it for tonight since I am certain I will get back to HK and suddenly become bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

I'm tired of Ugly Americans (and fat ones, though I slightly became one over my vacation). But more about that later.

I'm trying to finish this book about Richard Ramirez, the Night Stalker. I like reading books like that during travel; it makes people leave me alone. And since my aisle-mates are usualy dudes or couples, I figure it's no harm done.

Ah well, I'll talk to you later.

I guess the difference between the Ugly American and the Nasty Hong Konger is that in HK they pull out all of the stops and misbehave in spectacular fashion, and then become stars on You Tube. (It seems the woman having a fit royale at the HK airport is only one in a gallery of hideously misbehaving Hong Kongers now starring on You Tube--the phenomena was even profiled on the China Blog at Time.com!). Americans just throw little hissy fits hear, and petulant hissy fits there, until their grumbling and complaining nastiness becomes all pervasive. Ugly Americans have this uncanny ability to suck up all of the oxygen where ever they go (even in their own country). Whenever I travel, I am always embarrassed to be an American. I hate it when I have to show my passport and confirm that I belong to said tribe of misbehaving idiots who don't seem to have learned anything about manners, sharing and graciousness in kindergarten. What insecurity makes American behave like this, as if it will demonstrate beyond a doubt their nation's prepotencia? (Boy Sean, reading your blogs makes me think of some really nifty words--had to double check the meaning in my mighty Websters to be sure I had it right! :-))
