The shows are finally over. The feedback has been incredible. Some are saying the show was by far the best in my dads career. He sang songs straight through starting at 830 p.m and ending close to 1130.
Several more shows have been announced, but its secret for now. The only complaint was Ryan and my part was too short! Well, it is dads show, so we just support him as much as we can. At the age of 61 he can still pull in a full house with an attendance of nearly 16,000 each night. That's amazing.
I've gathered a bunch of pics from fans/friends/family. I'll upload a huge amount tomorrow in the album, so for now enjoy these pics.
Thanks to all the family and friends that came to support. Thanks to my singing teacher for opening a part of my throat and stomach I never knew existed. Thanks to Justin/patty chow for all the backstage nastiness. Thanks for Mr.Ass and creepkin for the hardwork. Thanks to Ida for taking care of me.
Since our part was small, I did my best to pull off as much energy as I could. I almost killed myself a few times, but in the end just ended up with bruised knees and swollen ankle thats still healing.
Great article from East Weekly. They mentioned when we are all together on stage, we are one family with one heart and not even having the biggest guest can compare to our lethal combination..ok the last 2 words are exaggerated.
The newspapers everday had some very nice write up. Dad was always in good shape and never was ill or going to die like they reported before.
Dad dedicated a song for Mom which he wrote way back in the day "carnation for Rebu".
Ida got mentioned quite a lot in the papers as my dad explained to the crowd this was her favorite song:
We also got harassed alot about our upcoming wedding. Seems everybody knows, but we're married already...or our we?...mua hahahhaa.
While the whole show was a success it was unfortunate that one person passed away just before the show started. A middle aged woman was taken to the hospital after not feeling well sitting in her seat and passed away. Treasure and cherish one another folks....
Enjoy these pics for now, don't forget, tomorrow, many, many more:
The trio.
Lettin my voice be heard.
Ryan and I were told to use these lollipops on stage....umm yea.
Ok, I have the story on my guitar. Yes, I did use the guitar from guitar hero. Our part was a combination of singing 2 songs together. I really had nothing else to do, so I figured I can play along with the family. Thanks Xbox...do I get a new free one now after smashing it on stage??
Sometimes I do this pose at home when Justin is screwing up on a zombie level in Call of Duty the videogame.
UPDATE: Thanks to Chung for sendin me this article from The Standard:
If you can't read it: Hong Kong took to Samuel Hui when he first broke into showbiz with his winning smile and good looks. Forty years on that flame burns birght. The 'God of Song' thrilled packed houses at Hong Kong Coliseum over four nights last week. He maybe 61, but then isn't youth and age like Half Catty and Eight Taels, the title of his immortal song.
01. Fans reach out as Hui dishes out towels with his signature leopard print; 02 The King is dead, long live the king, Hong Kong's Elvis; 03 Hui and Song Ryan play backup as younger son Scott belts out a number; 04 Model Coco shows who her hero is witha a sexy outift.
you know i've never heard you sing. i've heard your dad, ryan, and justin but never you. i think i've even heard your uncle or uncle whoever. what gives?
it was really a good show for all of us
i cant believe how fit of your father!
i saw u jump down from the stage.haha
it's so funny and excited
anyway, good luck for you ,ryan and especially SAM(:
61?! I was there at the final show and he looked like he was not a day older than 40...he even had bigger biceps than me and I was way up in the nosebleed section!
Congrats, Scottie. You and Ryan were great. I loved it that you were so into it that on one jump, you leaped so hard that you wiped out on the landing. I laughed my ass off. You did a nice recovery and immediately rocked on. That's H-E-A-R-T.
Looking forward to the next one. I'll come say hello BEFORE the show this time instead of trying to do it afterward (which didn't go so well considering I never even managed to say hello to you guys!)
LMAO! To Soul Train? Soul Train! hahahahaha! I told you were a man straight out my heart! I saw the picture of your dad when I was visiting Hong Kong for the first time this summer. I was so EXCITED! I wished I could have stayed a little longer to go to the concert. Glad it went so well and you got such rave reviews!
Thank you so much for having me & making my Birthday weekend come to a special end at the best concert experience in HONG KONG! You guyz ROCKED the house and your Dad of course was spectacular!! Love the Guitar Hero bit!! You're so cool Scottie!! ~Shairah~
Let's live for today, and today should always be better than yesterday. If not for this belief Sam would not have come to where he is now. He sure endeavours to make every show better than the last, and he succeeds.
Hey Scottie,
The show is really wonderful and I really believed that this one is by far the best of all.
Both Ryan and your performance are awesome, and your nice spin :p
I particulary love the birthday surprise part, its awesome, any more photos or clips to upload on this part ? Just wonder if it was really a surprise or pre-arranged ?
