Happy day!

In the distance she heard a faint ringing that rudely interrupted her peaceful slumber.  She reached over the side of her bed searching for that annoying piece of machine that she hated yet could not live without. “Hello?”  She asked in a soft tired whisper.  “Baby!  (In Chinese) you haven’t woken up yet?”  Her mother asked in her usual bubbly voice.  “NO, we didn’t get back till 2am last night!”  She said, half asleep.  “Oh, ok, I’m going to Beijing now so I will talk to you when you wake up.”  The line went dead.  Her mother always hung up the phone without saying “bye”.  One simple word to confirm that both parties are finished talking….but, anyone who knows Cheng Pei Pei, knows that you must be very quick with what you want to say or you will be cut off.

Of course, once Marsha is woken up in the morning, she will most likely not be able to go back to sleep.  It was about 8am.  A good 6 hours of sleep.  Suddenly she could hear birds singing as the day reminded her that TODAY was MOVING DAY!  At last!  The day that the group of contestants from “My Show” would be able to live in civilization once again!!!  The first thing that she did was pack up all of her stuff so that she could be on the bus at 1pm SHARP!!!  This was the first time she enjoyed packing…ever!

At about 10am she decided to get something to eat.  She had already started to make it her tradition to get lunch at one of the side shops in Wu Zhen.  There was a nice couple who always gave her extra fruit to go with her meal.  She took her time eating and talking to the couple to fully enjoy the final hours of her stay.  As she took a few photos with the couple she realized that she’d miss them when she left this place.  The air was sticky and the sun was beginning to scorch with heat.  She decided that instead of going online in the working area they had set up for the contestants (which was a 15 min walk from her dorm) she’d just go back in her room, turn on the “air con” full blast, have her last cup of instant all in one milk tea, listen to itunes, and write a entry in her blog so that she could post it later on when she could go online.

Now, looking at the time it was 12 pm and there was an hour before the very last time she’d have to make that 2 hour drive into the city.  She thought back to the last time she wrote in her blog and realized that so much had happened since…

…..last night was the competition that would determine who would be the last 8 people to get into the top 40.  This would involve 25 contestants.  We were split up into 5 groups of 5.  I was in the 4 th group.  At the start of the show each group would come out and sing a 1 min song each.  Then they would line up to have the public vote to see which contestant received the least amount of votes. That person was booted out.  I sang “All That Jazz” for my 1 min song because I hadn’t sung it on TV yet.  This time I sang the last half of the song…so at least it was different from the first time I sang it.  Once you got past the public voting, the remaining 20 contestants would be able to sing another 1 min and 30 sec song.  I sang “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina”.  This was the first time I ever attempted singing this song.  But, I found myself really loving the song.  I never thought that I’d say that.  It was the first time I really began to understand and get to know the lyrics.  It really spoke to me so I was very excited to sing it.  Unfortunately, I was only able to sing one verse and one chorus of the song so there was no real build in the song.  Hopefully, I’ll have the opportunity to sing the song again.  My father came to watch with a few friends.  I think it really helped to have him there with me.  I know that both my mother and father are probably my number one fans.  It makes me very happy to have such supportive parents who think that I’m the best.  They get so excited when I sing and it makes me feel so lucky to have them both on my team.  I felt really good about my performance.  And God was definitely with me all the time.   The most spiritual experience ever!  When I was singing “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” I felt this strange gust of wind while I was singing.  I thought it was in my imagination but a friend watching confirmed that there was wind blowing my dress as I was singing.  This is the feeling that I love so much about performance!  Well, almost time to leave for Shanghai!  Until next time…..

Hello?”

Right on sis! Well, in life there are always good days, if you make them good. You can flip any situation into a bad one. It looks like you finally accomplished that. Now, how can you do that at the beginning of an unpleasant event. H
