090909, it has been a busy day for me and my brother. as you may know, sep09, 09 became a popular day for wedding (just like 080808 last year, and likely to happen again on 101010 next year), and so both of us were busy helping friends who're getting married.

i was helping my friends to take pics for their wedding ceremony, and my brother was helping his friend to propose...

somehow it seems that in 2009, there're so many wedding-related news, in the newspaper, i read about wedding gossips of celebrities, and then starting from the beginning of the year, i already have friends getting married, and right after i finished my day taking pics for my friends yesterday, i already heard news of my other friend getting married soon..

honestly i always don't have much faith in marriage and perhaps i have seen so many marital failure around my life, or that i still couldn't find the person who can ignite my urge to get married (or that i have missed this person already?), i just dont seem to have any fantasy about marriage... perhaps one day things will change, but at this point, it just seems like something distant and implausible to me...

It'll happen. I'm sure it will. Unless you're a recluse, then I'm sure it won't. ;p Still, some people need to be realistic and rational about such things as "romance" and "dream partner" and other such expectations.

Marriage is hard, which is why is often doesn't work out for very long.  For 2 people to stay together, each person has to be willing to make a lot of sacrifices for the other, and for the sake of the couple.  Most people today don't want to do that, and so marriages fail.  In the old days, marriage was a fairly rigid institution that you existed inside of.  Today, marriage is more like a loose idea that each couple has to define for themselves.  That leaves a lot of room for disappointment and failure.  In the end, the new freedom of modern marriage is a good thing, but it take a lot of discipline to make it work (and a lot of forgiveness and tolerance).  When it works, it works very well, but when it doesn't, then it can be a disaster.
