"Entrants to the In Motion Contest were asked to create animation/video
introductions to Webby Awards category clusters. The work of the winner
and finalists was seen by over 800 industry luminaries, Webby winners,
and celebrities including David Byrne, Stephen Colbert, and will.i.am
of The Black Eyed Peas on June 10, 2008 at the 12th Annual Webby Awards
Gala in NYC."
and
"Out of the 10 category cluster finalists, Brandon originally was
selected for the “Living” category, but with a few minor changes ended
up better representing “Services.” The Webby Awards acknowledged
Brandon’s work as clearly being a “labor of love” and was very
impressive to all who saw it. Mind you, this competition is no
pushover. It’s highly competitive and open to professionals. Quite an
accomplishment for Brandon, and one we are more than happy to
recognize."
this coming term, our group assignment will be to produce a music
video. we'll have to shoot all the footage, create and incorporate all
the motion graphics and visual effects, and edit all together.
so what are your favorite music videos?
i need some inspiration!
(though i won't know what music group, song, nor type of music until we get our assignment on saturday)
just finished up another term here and that means two final projects in the can. the past few weeks have been incredibly busy for me. i think in one week i was in the computer lab 60-80 hours. partially due to time mismanagement on my part. partially due to some challenges in the project developing in way that i hadn't quite planned for.
i should take this moment to thank my buddy Drake for unknowingly providing much of the inspiration for one of my projects. i was really inspired by Drake's blog entry on his Art Lozzi study process and thought it'd be interesting to try and use a similar look and bring it to life digitally.
so i started with acrylic paint and sponges, which were then scanned and brought into After Effects. i'm not the fine artist that Drake is, so my painting was fairly mediocre but i'm pretty happy with how the texture of the painting lends itself to the animation.
the project was to create the opening and closing title sequences for a student film called Brain Freeze 1: The Epic Sequel. it's a comedy about a college student who drifts between his daydreams/fantasies
and real life through out the day and can't differentiate between
what's real and what's all in his head.
i tried to express the movie's
theme and events in a symbolic manner in the titles. the hook represents his conscious/subconcious leading him through his daydreams, the bird represents him waking up, the rope snapping and falling represents his loss of sanity, etc. i suppose i'm explaining too much, but without seeing the film the titles may be a bit confusing?
I need your help! For my class assignment, I have to do a "report" on a designer/studio who created the opening titles for a movie.
I'm considering doing the report on "The Heavenly Kings" title sequence designer. From what I can gather from the DVD, the animation was done by Ko Fai and/or Fat Face Production Limited.
I'm specifically trying to find information on the designer/studio who did the animated sequence during the movie titles for the "The Heavenly Kings."
Any chance you guys can hook me up with a name and email address?
(I'm also sending this to Dan since i'm guessing he knows the guy(s)?)

Project "HOME" - An arts exhibition for the relief of victims of Sichuan earthquake -
Background
Hi, we are an arts organization in Hong Kong. Our name is 'Art Fete Brings Hope 藝展予希望. We are governed by the Hong Kong Laws. Every year we carried out arts exhibition in various shopping malls in Hong Kong and collected funds for the charity organizations and provided arts therapy to the sick children, and to promote arts to the citizens. The charity organizations included UNICEF, ORBIS, Children's Cancer Foundation etc. Our members are now learning in the universities, or working in various industries, for example, arts education, design, architecture, advertising, corporate communications, public bodies, property development, or running their companies or married.
Having seen the Sichuan earthquake in China, we want to make contribution. We want to invite artists in various cities to join force to carry out an arts exhibition in Hong Kong to sustain the citizens' care and help to the victims in Sichuan.
The Project
The project is to call upon artists in various arts perspectives to lend out their artworks for the arts exhibition. The theme of the arts exhibition is "家". We will not carry out any sales, or auction of the artworks during the arts exhibition. However, Oxfam will call upon the citizens to donate during the arts exhibition. We will make a book/documentary for the arts exhibition with photos and meaning of the artworks, and give the books to the Sichuan government for reference, and give the books to the charity organizations as a counselling tool, and as our blessing to the victims in Sichuan.
