the chinese government is NOT a dictatorship...geez....

i hardly get mad at human rights groups. I believe they are there for a reason and i respect them.

however, sometimes, there are a few bad apples who over react or even lie.

i just saw some Swiss guy from a human rights watch group criticizing China on CNN.

what got me was him describing the Chinese government as a dictator like REGIME.

are u fucking kidding me? people use that word usually for cruel dictatorships.

China on the other hand is not.

i am not screaming anything here.

just mentioning a point- it isn't easy to build a nation so big. it isn't easy to govern a nation so big.

let's not use the olympics to make china look bad.

let's be fair to the spirit of the games- a symbol of our humanity and NOT for the fun and games of several underworked so called human rights activist.

The only regime I want to be a part of is Birds of Prey's next album release! ;-) But yeah .. people who are only familiar with a few random facts about something are hardly in a position to point fingers. There is more to China than one or two human rights issues, but I guess it is easier to be angry and generalize for some folks.

u're right about it not being easy to govern a nation so big.but investigative media in the 4th estate also made startling discoveries about some rural parts of china,and even not so rural.guess what happens when people are hungry and too many female useless babies are abandoned.

China gets mis-represented a hell of a lot in Western press. Words like dictatorship are used purely to promote a negative image, although technically it is a valid choice of word IF YOU ACCEPT the contemporary meaning. But let's face it, the Western press are more interested in the old image of the word. Which - and I agree with you on this - is an inaccurate description of China's governmental system. The political system in the PRC is far from perfect, but then if *you* had to manage 20% of the planet's population you'd have to make some pretty harsh decisions now & again. If you want to talk about Human Rights, the US has got a lot to answer for right now :) ... hence all the diversion towards to China. World politics does actually make me quite sick. Who the hell let it get this bad.
