They always misspel my name

God everytime,

seriously, everytime I do an interview I always warn the journalist that my name is Chaves and not Chavez.

Well, guess what? 80% of the time they spell it Chavez.

Now, how is that possible? Is it because a wrong twist of faith that makes everyone add a Z at the end of my name, or do I inspire people into believing that I might have ties with the president of Venezuela?

Then again, the mistery remains.

And here is the last article I appeared in with Mel Hartman.

Hey, 90% of the world doesn't even realize that Portuguese isn't the same language as Spanish. When I tell people that Spain itself has all these languages that aren't what people call "Spanish", they are astonished. When I describe driving across the north of Spain and passing through zones that spoke Catalan, Basque, Asturiano and Galician, people look like I'm describing some science fiction novel. I expect Americans to be clueless about languages that aren't English, but we are led to believe (by Europeans themselves) that Europeans are more educated about linguistic matters than we are. I guess the dirty little secret is out. :-)

The name issue is a kind of endless. for example, my name is spelled as Junichi. And the correct pronunciation in Japanese is Jun-ichi, but in other countries, most of them call me as Ju-ni-chi...
