The Street Fighter Experience

This week I had the honor and fortune to accompany my mother on the set of Street Fighter: The Legends of Chung Li.  I have to say it was a magical experience.  I truly enjoyed every bit of it, and it has inspired me. I know what you are thinking, Street Fighter? They are making another one of those?  The Last one was Terrible!  Contrary our Van Damn days, this street fighter has a dialogue.  My mother asked me weather or not she should do this part in this movie.  I was not convinced with the street fighter name, but after reading the scrīpt, I was highly impressed.  Street Fighter is going to be one of the few studio movies that I will look forward to seeing next spring

Monday we arrived on set in Bangkok.  They transformed a whole alleyway in Bangkok to look exactly like a Hong Kong Alley way (the magic of hollywood).  The store that my mom was working in looked like something you'd see in the 1970's in HK, well done.  We were greeted by Andre the director.  Going through rehearsal, I contributed a small effort to teach Kristin Kirk (Chung-Lee) Mandarin.  After rehearsal, I was looking forward to the next day's shooting. Patrick one of the Producers was really excited to have my mom in the movie.  He explained to me that her part may have been small, but it was very iconic.  Apparently her role was similar to the oracle in The Matrix, or Yoda in Star Wars.  Needless to say they planned on having her back in Street Fighter II and III

Three scenes took the whole day to shoot.  I was impressed by the precision of what was necessary to get a shot.  The crew was large, so there were many variables to work with.  I could see exactly what the director wanted, which made me enjoy this even more.  Everyone was quite friendly, and I felt like I was part of the team.  I was even able to conduct my mother's interview for "The Making of Street Fighter."  I was even able to take a few photos on set of my mother and Kristin.

My experience on the set experience inspired me to actually decide to want to be a part of the film industry.  I had been going back and fourth on weather or not I wanted to be in this industry, but after I came on set, I knew.  My mother and I discussed further details on how to make this possible.  Don't get me wrong I love holistic coaching and it is a trade that I will never give up.  But, as a gemini I like to be a jack of all trades.  The difference is that I won't be a master of none, instead I will be a master of many. The night will be another blog another story, so much happened in this one day that I cannot write all that has happened in one go.  Stay Tuned!

Due to a misunderstanding the photos on this blog were removed.
