Van Ness Opening for Kanye West in Shanghai

Believe it or not,  I still have Tokyo pics to blog about, but I wanted to share another 'hot off the presses' set of blogs -

Pat, Swang and I made a last minute decision to fly up to Shanghai to attend Kanye West's Shanghai show on Monday night.  Of course I'm always down for a chance to see Kanye perform (recall that we saw him in HK in April for the Bape show with N.E.R.D. and Teriyaki Boyz),  but also we wanted to support alivenotdead.com artist Van Ness Wu, who was opening for Kanye on this concert.   今朝上海から帰った。カニエ・ウェストのコンサットへ行った。もちろんヴァンの公演を見たいから！疲れたけど、速くブログの準備した！写真とビデオを見て下さい：



Van Ness just finished a tour in Japan, but I wasn't able to make it to the Osaka show on my recent trip up to the Tokyo Film Festival last month,  so I didn't want to miss a second chance...   

As is usual for my blogs, I'm going to split it up into a few separate chapters,  first let me do Van Ness' opening performance - 　この始ブログはヴァンのソロ演だけの物です：


Van Ness used the same dancers and band from his solo portion of the Japan Tour shows,  which meant a lot of familiar alivenotdead.com faces on stage - Gabriel Lee, Skot Suyama and the blogging machine himself, Terry Tye Lee.  Also they flew in 6 of the tour dancers from Japan too,  a few of whom I had met before -- cool!  ;-)
日本のF4コンサットのソロ部大体同じの歌とダンスしたと思います。同じダンサー達日本から来た。すごい！




Unfortunately Van's solo portion was effected by a few technical difficulties,  since Kanye's tour had just performed in Beijing two nights before and Van had an event in Taiwan two nights before too,  there wasn't much time for setting up and checking the equipment -- so when they came out for the first song a few of the microphones, including Van Ness' were not properly set...  basically he was singing except no one could hear it.  Doh! :-P

But the show must go on and eventually they got it fixed. ;-)
