    Went to The Cure show here in Hong Kong last night and what an impressive show it was! I went in thinking it was going to be a fat and old Robert Smith playing a couple classics then mostly a bunch of newer stuff that no one really knew for 45 minutes. To my surprise, however, their set lasted almost three hours and was chocked full of the old school goodies! And although he is old and fat now, his voice sounds as good and strong as ever.
    I hobbled in on my crutches to the standing room floor area of the Asian Expo Arena excited to see the band I never got to see in high-school and was surprised to see such a huge turnout. I didn't think too many locals were into The Cure. It was definitely a much more mature affair. Not many people under 25 and there were a lot of balding white guys dancing around reminiscing their college days. About half an hour into the show a security guard offered me a chair near the sound booth. I'm glad I took him up on the offer because my one good leg was already getting sore however, I did have to jump up to get a little groove on when songs like "Friday I'm in Love", "Lovesong" and "Just Like Heaven" came on. The crowd was also one on the best I have ever seen in HK. Usually local crowds are quite dead but last night the whole arena was dancing and singing along. Their double encore was finished off with "Boys Don't Cry", a perfect end to a great show.


    Robert Smith was so hot at one point he turned into a giant fireball right there on stage!

    I was at their concert too and the oldies were awesome! The new songs weren't really that good though, just not their style. And yeah he does seems to put on alot of weight but the voice is still strong. It so cool knowing we've both been thru their concert experience!

    raar... there aren't any cure shows in the bay area except for the download festival... suxor. i do have tickets for crowded house tho... better than nothing!

    wow, The Cure, i love them! still remember they were going on the road in the States when i was a freshman.and I'd got a huge black T-shirt from the concert

    i have no idea who robert smith is and had quite a shock when i saw him on the TV.. sucha scary old man he is.. but but was v glad when out of nowhere i caught a glimpse of u in the newsclip.. poor u, still on crutches, but i can see it didn't stop u from going to a concert.. :P glad u enjoyed urself.. get well soon, big bro. :)

    I like The Cure too :)) But have been too busy lately, didn't know they were here....gosh!!!!

    Btw, are you still intersted in making new movies? My friend (an experienced prosecutor in the States) has recently finished a screenplay. Since we both like you very much, we wanna invite you to have a look ....who knows, maybe you would be interested in it?.. :)

    It's so cool that The Cure are still touring.  You are lucky to have seen them.  They will always be one of my faves.  The last time I saw them live was in the early 90's during the Wish tour.  The band has had some ups and downs but it's nice to see them still around. It's amazing that they actually played for 3 hrs and that Robert Smith still kind of does his hair and makeup the same way and sounds the same.  They just don't' write songs like "Just Like Heaven" and "In Between Days" anymore.  I was so psyched when  "Pictures of You" was used in an HP commercial a few years ago.

    ah the cure....I hope I get to go to one of their shows before robert retires....my third favorite band, after The Comsat Angels and Joy DIvision! always nice to see someone into them.
