Vancouver, back to Beijing, then we'll see

Spent the last 3 and a half weeks in Vancouver and now it's just about over.  Time continues to fly by and I'm been trying to make the best of it. Seeing old friends, family, hellos and farewells, it was a nice to come back and see everyone that has been there for me since the beginning.On the film side I've been quite busy as well.  Just wrapped up a commercial this weekend.  I was actor/props/costumes and that was a great experience that led me to sleep 13 hours once we were done.  Would have been longer had I not been stirred up by my mom for a meeting I had with the director of the San Francisco Asian Film Festival who I met at the opening gala of the Vancouver International Film Festival.  I saw the opening film, Barney's Version starring Paul Giamatti, which was an entertaining mix of comedic and dramatic moments.  It was a little longer than it needed to be but had some good moments and themes going on.I had several meetings with several producers and directors and ended up helping with some reading/casting as well.  On top of all of that, I actually anticipated being quite bored with nothing to do while I was here, I wrote a script for a short film on the plane which I have been doing bit by bit.  Not sure when I'll have time to finish it but it's there and in progress.So despite what must be another record setting slow year in Vancouver (Olympics did it), coming into a slow setting with a fast mindset has done wonders for me.  I spoke to quite a few aspiring film makers here and hope that I shed some light for them and set them on the right path.  This has been a difficult year for what has always been an incredibly difficult industry.We must persevere and be smart about it to succeed.
