Nice festival, wrong stage...

Hi there, we are all back safe from Kenting.Myself with burned nose and back, due to the 30 degrees and blue sky and my Sunday scooter- riding on the ocean; Griff with a sleepless night due to DragonAir delay of over 3 hours which brought us home only at 3 am and another trip to Japan scheduled on Monday morning at 8.30; Shadow with a lot more fans and a few autographs signed on the way.It was such an experience! The festival was on 8 different stages on a beautiful spot along the ocean, on the southernmost place in Taiwan, the natural park of Eluanbi.  Organization was a little bit do-it-yourself, but you would expect no less from an event that turned from a picnic party ten years ago into a massive concerts with 250 bands and thousands of people in the audience.Besides DragonAir making our day on the way back, we had a few troubles finding accomodations, transportation on site, bringing gear back and forth, but in the end it was worth the effort. The place was absolutely fantastic and crowd responded very well.  And I also bought new sunglasses! Our stage though created quite a few problems. We have been chosen for the DJ/MC stage, which was basically just close to the entrance and the main stage, location being great, even if very distant from all other underground stages (we could not see many of the bands we wanted to!!).This stage was missing all the basic requirement for a band (we were actually the only real "band" playing there): no amps, no stands, mixer was far and beyond the stage, no stage mixer, no DIs, not many electricity plugs, etc.We had to work very very hard to get the things we needed and in the end I had to plug in my telecaster directly to PA which was horrible, especially considering that mixing people could not hear what we were doing and pushed me so loud, resulting in me yelling at them every two minutes....Even the mixing guys (true gentlemen) in the end thanked us for the patience but asked us kindly to avoid playing again on that stage, if we ever got back to Spring Scream.... guess they are probably right, considering the amount of work needed for just a one-hour set...  Funniest thing is after three songs of our set, the electricity was suddenly shot down. The organizer of the festival came and talk to us and explained that the police was checking all paperwork, so asked us to chill out and have a beer in the meanwhile.I have to say, this has happened to me before, but it was quite weird, considering there were thousands of people watching a cantopop star singing "Knocking on Heavens Door" a hundred meters away...Anyways, we got through that, we played what I believe it was quite a good set, people liked it and danced, then we got hammered after the show and got happily back with empty cans and a bunch of pictures, as it should be.A particular thanks for support to all Hong Kong bands present at the event. It was impressive that almost all the bands that I liked came actually from our city: I was honestly proud of that. Also, every one was so kind and supported each other.Big up for the Hong Kong massive!A big thanks to Snoblind, Synthetic Insemination, Zoundz, Hippo and the Little Fat Pig crew, Sea Monsters, Born to Hula and all our friends. You rock.Cla
