review: spoiler it has been a long time since i walk out of the theatre with such satisfaction, in terms of creativity, originality, over-the-top violence, grotty humor and profanity. mind u the three latter elements are used to describe a twelve year old gal character, hit-girl, who absolutely steals the show. u must excuse me for i normally discuss the script and camera first, but this time, boy o boy. i think i m currently in love with chloe moretz, her performance is so stunning and heart breaking that, she is practically destroying all the young actresses out there. she is turning thirteen this year and what a lovely young lady she turns out to be... anyways i can go on for hours but back to the review. a round of applause to director and producer matthew vaughn, for without his confidence and persistence on funding the original script, i doubt i can enjoy the movie as much. there are so many elements in the story worth celebrating, surprise is one. i walked in the cinema with no anticipation, the trailer is quite frankly, not nicely done, i looked up rotten tomatoes knowing it has positive ratings, a good sign, thats all. after first 20 minutes, i was already taken by surprise in several moments, knowing its content is morally wrong on so many levels. i mean, watching a twelve year old gal getting shot in the chest is one thing, later she wield a gun and a knife, swear and chop ppl down like she is decorating christmas trees is another. it is like u have to acknowledge the production made a tough fight against censors. wrong, the french rate it PG lol. nah i m kidding, the movie did go through a lot of pressure, but the french thing is real. (!) knowing brat pitt being one of the producers, may be that helped a bit, i dont know. gun fights and martial arts are delivered fast and distinctive, there are two stages, first laughable clumsy street fights, then all of a sudden tarantino one shot lethal style, stimulating watch. comic editing, 360 camera movements, birds eye upon new york city, along with classic teenage narratives, this movie is black comedy, action hero, crime fighting, blood and gore, growing pain all in one. damn this movie is so wrong on too many levels, it became right; audience not only accept but they love it.

now on to the characters, lead actor aaron johnson, 19 years old, despite his close-to-disturbed shyness on interviews, he is acutally quite a handsome looking englishman from buckinghamshire, england, so well played on his american accent, he nailed it. besides that though, his character is actually least interesting in the movie, guess i can call it a pleasant surprise. mark strong, also english, played an italian mafia leader, again, well done on the accent. he portrayed his character's violent nature to the level of frightening at times. nicholas cage for a change, is actually cool again, now thats kick ass amazing. finally, mclovin, one of my favorite from the movie super bad, plays red mist. acutally he auditioned for kick ass, turned out he got the side kick instead, which is not a bad thing, only i m a little disappointed with his lack of delivery this time. in all, i thoroughly enjoyed the movie, i hope u folks dont take offense watching, for this story is true to its bones, an honest portray of modern society and teenage mentality, which is a rarity.
