    Hi Shann
I discussed this previously with Dan at one of the Tottenham get-togethers.
As someone said you can't go wrong with Nikons or Canons.  Personally I dig the former, but both are solid.  Nikons - D40x is on sale now, because the newer D60 is out.  Both models worth investigating, they both have .jpg and RAW modes for easy manipulation.  Also worth looking into downloading a program such as Ulead Photoimpact or Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo if you can't obtain the full version of Photoshop.

Hi Shann, For compact point and shoot, I really like the Canons for the quick response and ease of use. For DSLR, Nikon or Canon...can't go wrong. I like Canon as I have friends with Canons and I borrow their lenses. Prosumer...I really liked my G-Series...it's like mix of SLR and point and shoot.

Nikon D80 gets great reviews, but that was about a year ago.
