Downloading..

Funny yesterday I was in a meeting and suddenly the discussion started about the illegal download of movies.

The news laws against is, blablabla,...

Well you know what: this illegal download crap and the whole marketing against it, promoting the poor filmmakers or musicmen is tiresome.

Like they said in South Park: because we download the last Spiderman, Raimi won't be able to pay for his new villa. Or because we downloaded the flick "Wanted" our poor Angelina won't be able to buy herself a new airplane.

Sad, sad,....

But actually something struck my mind: in the 70's-80's when they used tapes and cds everybody always copied everything to tapes.

And think about this way: when we had VHS or Beta, didn't we use to record the movies that played on tv? I mean, we never paied for the movies we copied from the tv, now did we?

So copying has been here since the dawn of time: with tapes. Now with the dvds and specially blueray different companies tried to stop us from recording movies, by not selling a dvdwriter or blueraywriter, or by putting huge prices on them. So that we start buying more dvds.

Now the internet is just like your tv and vhs recorder: you watch the movie you want to see.

That's it.

And there is nothing illegal about that! Only if you start to sell it ofcourse.

Now next time you have someone whining about piracy of movies. Just give them the example of the tapes and the tv.
