Thoughts about the movie Venus and Peter O'Toole

I saw Venus, the movie last night on dvd. Peter O'Toole was superb, superb,superb in that. He just basically took my breath away. There are many good actors in this world,Morgan Freeman is a good actor,Tom Hanks is a good actor,Sean Penn is a good actor,but Peter O'Toole has good acting plus something else. It is that same eerie chill that I get up my spine when Anthony Hopkins does his best deliveries. Let me explain. I love watching actors,I love looking at the way they approach their roles. It's interpretation. There is something similar in Hopkins and O'Toole, in that they come across as "thinking" actors. When they do a certain scene,u see how they encapsulate your attention by devouring all of u in that moment when they "gaze" intently at u before they say something. That makes whatever they say automatically significant. Hell,they can be saying " I am a platypus" with that intensity U'd be lapping it up anyways.

I cannot believe how much of a coincedence it is. Right now it's 2nd Aug in the US and it's Peter O'Toole's birthday! How apt since I just watched him enact his role as "Maurice" in Venus. Marvellous.

There was a line in Venus which made me chuckle, well a little. Peter O'Toole tells the young, snappy Jessie(Venus) that the woman's body "is the most beautiful" thing to a man.

Jessie: What then is the most beautiful thing to a woman?

Maurice: When she sees her first child.

Maybe some of u guys have heard this line before,but I was slightly affected,moved actually.:)

It's not an easy task playing a "dirty" old man,it's even harder trying to convince the audience why u are a dirty old man that requires some form of sympathy. By the end of the movie,I was completely emphathizing. This movie explores sexuality in an interesting way. The juxtaposition between old and young,man and girl,they come together in an integral balance.
