  • EDISON CHEN 陳冠希 VIDEO : N°1

For months, my Maggie Q interview excerpt about Naked Weapon 赤裸特工 was my most viewed video on Youtube until now. Indeed, my Edison Chen interview about Infernal Affairs 2 無間道II, posted seven months ago just became number one (one or two days ago I think).

Actually, this video was watched around 175 000 times the last three weeks  - It’s also my most discussed video with more than 220 comments -  which is understandable considering the recent mediatic events related to this actor, plus the eye-catching title of my video: Edison Chen gets slapped by Carina Lau (For Real). Whatever, maybe that way, more people will be aware of Infernal Affairs 2, which I think is Edison Chen best movie so far.

Thanks for the reference.  I will be sure and check it out.  Too bad the French market is cooling for Asian films.  Asia produces so many different types of films that it should be immune to these foreign fads.  But in the US,  at least, Asian films mean only a few types of films and/or a few directors.  Having stumbled onto this region's films only recently I am amazed how incredibly diverse the films are from this region.  There is a lot more out there than most US fans realize.  Yesasia and some US based web sites offer plenty to keep me happy.  But I have so much catching up to do!

loveleslie : the listing of all the DVD extra features that I made between 2004 & 2007 is listed here : http://fredambroisine.com/documentaires.htm
This year, I don't have much to do (Just the Soi Cheang interview about "Shamo" comin soon) cos' the DVD market in France about Asian movies is going down.
Jaine : I think you can find for a fair price the HK edition of "Infernal Affairs 2" on Yesasia (I love part 2, I don't like the 3rd one).
Etchy : Just removed the autoplay

Who would have thought you'd be riding the Edison Chen juggernaut?  Hopefully people will also check out some of your other videos, too.  I wish I could see some of the full interviews you have done for the French editions of those Shaw Bros. films.  The bits you have posted have been very interesting.  My French is coming back after not using it much for over a decade, but I'm still not sure I'm ready for Hong Kong films subtitled in French. :-(  Sometimes just keeping up with the English subtitles can be enough.  The other night I was watching The Kid with Leslie Cheung, and there are certain parts of the film where the subtitles are out of sync with the dialog.  Long subtitles appear against short sections of dialog and flash by in a couple of seconds.  I had to keep pausing the DVD so I could read the subtitles.  Not sure what happened to these two sections near the end of the film.  It also seems like seems like somebody's second assistant was given the job to do these 2 sections, and they weren't quite up the task.

I haven't seen Infernal Affairs 2 or 3.  It was hard enough finding the first one (it was pinched from my local video store)

Considering his recent announcement, it will probably be his best ever.(at least in Hong Kong)
That's really sad that it has to end like that.
