  • I love my Mom but...

When I first moved to Hong Kong, I could only afford a tiny little apartment that was smaller than my college dorm room. I think it was a little less than 200sq.ft. I thought that was small but I think this house takes the cake. Although it's probably bigger than my apartment was, it is a house and not an apartment. I think it would work if you were single but living with your Mom? Sleeping in the same room at 39 years old? I don't know about that. And those sinks look like they'd drive me crazy. It is however, a pretty ingenious design solution for the issue of space and affordability in urban environments.

damn, I think it's pretty doable if you were living alone but yah, having to sleep with your mother would be pretty terrible...

I dont think sea water is good to drink even if boiled & filtered. Besides people dump garbage in the ocean, you'd be drinking or washing in that.

i was thinking of doing that.  buy an acre over in hawaii for like $7k USD.  then get some of those shipping containers and try to make a house from that.  if you used solar panels to get your energy and boiled the seawater, i wonder if you could live sustainably there?

    虽然小,但是布置很紧凑,收拾的也很干净整洁。但是上下楼梯对年纪大的人来说,不够安全。

other than smaller houses, people will have to figure out how to make human being, i.e. ourselves become smaller to save space in future...

i don't know about sq feet, but i live alone in an apartment of 120 sq metres and since young my personal space is big so i do not like small spaces.
but with people living longer, spaces are getting smaller and smaller. and its interesting to know that people can actually design quality living spaces.
ha maybe having common bathroom and rubbish disposable area could save up more space. i remember the days when my aunt who live in Chinatown (Singapore), back then the houses have common cooking, bathroom area.

If I live alone, I still need a studio apartment of about 900 sq ft otherwise, I will go crazy.

Japanese are madly resilient in this sense. I'd worry about my mental health living in this house longer than a week.
