Largo Winch 2

I'm pretty hopeless when it comes to acting. Anyone forced to work with me at Jeanne Hartman's classes would attest to this (apologies to all concerned).

However, I firmly believe that learning how to act and being competent at it is vital to any director's skills set. Being able to understand an actor's requirements in terms of good direction will help you get more from your cast.

It's for this reason (apart from the fun factor) that I occasionally accept roles in films, which explains my latest foray into ...Read more

Filming at the United Nations

I recently had the pleasure of directing the film shoot for the EcoChic fashion show at the UN headquarters in Geneva - the Palais des Nations. Organised by Hong Kong eco charity Green2Greener, the fashion show was the highlight of a three-day conference hosted by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development on sustainability in the fashion industry.

This year is the Year of Biodiversity, so the focus on this sector of the industry was incredibly important in terms of how the fashion industry can reduce the har...Read more

Erik Kaiser Venture

Currently directing an American series for ABC on self made multi-millionaires sharing the secrets to their success. The series is hosted by New Yorker, Erik Kaiser, himself an entrepreneur and takes in the adventure, food and travel as we skip from country to country speaking with these incredible business people.

We recently shot in Hong Kong and I asked my good friend Liza from Hip Hong Kong to act in several of our scenes. Liza was amazing and wrote a blog about her experience, complete with video and pics, on her Hip Hong Kon...Read more

Jean Reno interview

I had an interesting verbal joust with accomplished French film actor Jean Reno recently. Reno is an incredible actor who successfully made the transition from European theater and cinema artiste to Hollywood film star with such hits as Big Blue, Le Femme Nikita, The Professional (Leon), The Visitors, Ronan, French Kiss, Godzilla, Mission Impossible, Pink Panther and the Da Vinci Code. He came from a stereotypical starving actor background as he struggled to find work in theatre in the 70s in France. A successful introduction to stage dir...Read more

Macau Grand Prix

OK, when it comes to cars I admit I'm a bit of a rev head. I love their shapes, different sizes, sounds, engines, wheels, hub caps, you name it. Each car has its own personality. I used to race day/night rallies in Tasmania in my worked Hilux 4 wheel drive and the thrill of speed is still with me.

So, there was no question whether I would be going to the Macau Grand Prix when the Federation Internationael de l'Automobile offered to host me. The FIA runs motorsport globally, responsible for GT, WTCC, F1 and all things rally. A...Read more

Dragon Garden recce

Despite the best (or worst) intentions of developers, Hong Kong still manages to surprise me by revealing fabulous heritage and historical locations for filming.

One such place is Dragon Garden, which is a stunning 1940s era summer holiday home made famous internationally in the James Bond film, Man With The Golden Gun.

Dragon Garden is an 8-hectare private heritage garden located in the backdrop of Sham Tseng in the east of Read more

What a week!

I'm startled to be alive quite frankly! The week that was, was huge. ACtually. Ginormous would be a better description.

Thursday night our band Uranus opened the entertainment at the Fight Night charity event to raise money for Operation Smile. This is a black tie dinner affair where white collar workers who have been training for six months entertain the crowd by boxing in a proper boxing ring in the middle of a large marquee. Myself and the bass player were in the ring, the drummer was at one end of the marquee and lead singer Will...Read more
