MacDonalds and Guitar Hero

Sometimes it's amazing the types of simple pleasures that life can offer you.

MacDonalds and Guitar Hero was all I needed for Halloween.  In recent years I have made large extravagant costumes and enjoyed the festivities like all festive people do, but this year I didn't have the time to plan and build (the best part) a decent costume.  Years prior to that, I was found trick or treating, until I found out I could get the same amount of candy I would take hours getting with 10 bucks at the local supermarket.  Less variety of course but no need to check for razor blades.

So this year at Halloween, I had no plans leading up to the day.  My older brother Sebastian had his birthday on the 28th and he got a Wii (keeps me in shape now) and another guitar for Guitar Hero (Xbox 360).  So...    Guitar Hero...

Guitar Hero Guitar X2...

Classic Rock Songs...

which could mean only one thing...

Guitar Hero Party!!!!!!!!  Party!!!  Guitar Hero!!!  Guitar Hero Guitars!!!!   Collaborations!!!!!!

It may seems kind of ridiculous to be so excited over something like this.

But every time I watch a really good guitar player, piano player or drum player, it makes me wish I had lived my life over again and pursued that.

If you've ever wanted to be that musician...                                           really

Really wanted to feeeeeel the music throughout your body...

And just

rock

it

out.

But you don't have the time, environment or patience to practice the long hours to learn the instrument and sound good at the same time.

Well then this is the way to go.  The songs are all familiar, there are 5 buttons!  But you start with 3 to begin with (5 is freakin hard).  All colour coordinated.  And it's quite satisfying to have these five colours make awesome music if I press them in the right sequence.  Reminds me of the game Simon from primary school... but waaaay better.

Guitar hero is a trend that started all the way back from the first Dance Dance Revolution, then all the new less innovative versions came out so they had to come up with something different.  Guitar freaks was the answer to that, then that drumming game.  And now they have brought it to your home with Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II and Guitar Hero III.

For those of you that still have no idea.

Check this out.

Still seems kind of lame perhaps.  But me and my friends from Wushu (training) went to work on Halloween night for my brother to let us play.

So here's the story.

The day before, guitar hero guitar opened, my friend Will, who borrowed Seb's other guitar (been practicing) went all excited and suggested he bring the other guitar over and we have a Guitar Hero Party.  Didn't have any other plans so I said sure and invited a few others.  Halloween day, before training, I played for a few songs.

If I didn't stop to get some Halloween candy I would have not been able to get ready on time.  The game had me hooked so fast it was amazing.  Anyways after that I was so pumped up for the night.  One guitar was pretty excellent... 1 plus 1 equals 2...   and we have 2 guitars.

So after training we get home, everyone's over and ready.

Seb tells us his friend (assistant manager at a Macdonald's) needed help to unload a shipment.  It was Halloween after all and a handful of employees bailed which left them shorthanded and no one to put the stuff in the back.  He wouldn't let us play if we didn't help cause it would have taken the 2 of them hours to do it themselves.  So we loaded up two cars, drove all the way over there and did the job in a good 45 minutes between the 7 of us.  I had the worst job, in the freezer, was not prepared and I was afraid my fingers would stick on the metal the whole time.

We thought we'd be able to make some custom burgers (disgusting but satisfying all the same) but they were too busy for that so we just went back to my place for Guitar Hero and Halloween candy.  Not many kids this time around so we got to eat the box we had.

That was the first and hopefully the last time I would ever have to work at Macdonalds.

We got back, played guitar heroes as intended.  Some of the guys played with real guitars while waiting for their turn on those little plastic ones with the buttons (that thought makes me laugh).  And we also turned on the Wii with Mario Strikers.

So you ask, what's next after you complete all 42 songs, finish extreme mode, unlock all unlockables and conquer all achievements...

Let me show you the hype of the month and a half...

Buh Buh Buuuuh

Bwaaaang!

Rock Band!

So the idea of 2 guitars was pretty crazy already.

Rock band

has the classic and new rock songs

has the guitar

has the bass

has the drums

and then the singer.

Boom!  We're in business.

That's one fantastic package.

Due to Release in a month in a half.  We're all pretty psyched about it.  Come Christmas time we'll be rocking out yet again.  Minus all the chocolate, I may have gained back all the weight I lost after China.  Back to the Wii for some muscle toning on Wii sports.

You should see how I play, but I don't think I'll ever show anyone... way too embarrassing.
