a journey for tux

I have never got myself into a tux, until recently. You know, all for my sister's big day. To honour the occasion, I have paid visits to virtually all the big names like, dolce, armani, gucci, LV, bottega(!), van noten, paul smith, burberry, boss(a wild card there), joyce, and so on, yet continuously failed to find a piece that meets my expectation. What i m looking for is a nice looking unconventional piece, something that is formal yet... i dont know how to put it. All i know is that this aint casino royale, cant afford it anyway. Luckily i made my way to a piece that meets my expectation, its a mcqueen, kinda smart and masculine, only its a single piece, so i had to look for pair of pants that go with it, which i did eventually, thanks to the boutique sales. Then i had a long session of tailoring in the changing room with, of course the tailor. I learnt from him that right handers all have longer right arms than the left, and vice versa. i was a little freaked out at first; call me ignorant. And call me sexist by brushing off a 'tailoress' before the tailor came, i was like, 'no no no, i want a guy!' i hope the tailoress didnt take it personally. In a way i was a little frustrated with the sales man too, cos he put me at the spot didnt he! Anyways, got myself a nice shirt too, u know, with the fringes and all, to just the right extend, and finally a silver bowtie to go with it. Ta-da!

Something is still missing tho. A belt, cuff links and a shiny pair of shoes. Belt is no hurry, cuff links are all over the place, my only concern now is a pair of shoes that shines with elegance. And that is when i found the pair i posted here. 'What on earth?' i thought to myself, so i asked the sales man if those are for man. 'They certainly are, this is what tuxedo shoes look like a century ago,' he replied. Blimey, these designers must have run out of things to play with, their final solution is to relive the 1900 edition. I took my time staring at them, pondering how many times would i have to explain this story over and over again if i put them on for the nite. 'Not gay sir, no sir, u c, these were very popular a century ago apparently, in fact, your great grandfather might have had a few pairs back in the golden days... haha... o i beg your pardon? u were just looking for the washroom is it? splendid, its on the right there... i supposed u wouldnt want me to accompany you...haha...ha... You do?!'

ha, if not for weddings, tuxedos would not need to exist! do you get any say in the tuxedo style? hopefully nothing too stylish that will look dated in 20 years. ;-)
