Shanghai’s Musical Theatre Weekend Master Class

With the presence of The Lion King, Mamma Mia, 42 nd Street and many more, Musical Theatre is on the rise in Shanghai! Take it one step further and learn the truth backstage and the 9 secrets to Auditioning! The registration for the Master Class is open to everyone and can be done at JazzFunk dance studio, UDC Innovative Plaza, No.125 Jiang su Bei Lu, Build C, Shanghai.

The Musical Theatre Master Class will be held on Saturday June 9 th and Sunday June 10th from 16:00 to 20:00 and Saturday June 16 th from 9:00 to 19:00. The program will consist of Singing, Acting, Dancing and Guest speakers in a creative and friendly atmosphere made for everyone. The Workshop is open to everybody (above 15y/o), and includes a performance showcase on the evening of the following Monday, 18 th of June.

With the 8 years of knowledge and skills of Robert Vicencio in professional International Musical Theatre and with the unique talent and professionalism of the Jazz Funk Dance company, the Musical Theatre Master Class will be a great opportunity for locals and expatriates interested in Musical Theatre to learn the values and appreciation of the Western Musical Theatre in the community. It is a one weekend shot to jump up to the stage and perform with talents!

Jazz Funk,founded by Lian Du in 2004, is the First International Dance Studio in Shanghai and has made its name by choreographing and performing for luxury brands including Dior, L’Oreal, Krizia, Chivas Regal, BMW and many more. Currently Jazz Funk is running around 50 classes each week from their 3 dance studios, having 30 primary dancers of which 20 teach. The dancers represent up to 15 nationalities, all with formal dance education. The studio offers a variety of dance styles for both adults and children including Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Street Jazz, Tap, Flamenco, Latin, Belly dance, Samba and Pilates.

Born in the Year of the Dragon in Sydney, Australia, Robert Vicencio is a writer, director and producer at heart. Having been in the smash hit musical Miss Saigon for over 8 years and performing around the world including London’s West End for 3 years, Robert Vicencio is no stranger to the stage and screen, playing such roles as one of the 12 Apostles in the latest movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar, and staring in Musical Moments, in Hong Kong for the past 2 years. Musical Moments, the concert will once again show in Hong Kong this October with prospect of coming to Shanghai in 2007.

Robert Vicenciois also looking to publish his first book related to Musical Theatre to be released as a bi-lingual publication in both Chinese & English later this year.
