About phil hayes

Phil Hayes an Australian born Artist now living in Hong Kong has been involved in making art since the early eighties. Loosely described as a modernist POP artist his work is currently based around his moved from Australia to Hong Kong and the cultural differences he has experienced. His work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions all around the world, from as local as Hong Kong to as far afield as Spain. The ‘dog’ has featured in his work for about 15 years now. It began to appear as part of a series of social commentary works on suburbia in the 80’s and has become an icon and personal trademark. He has also worked in the surf industry for the past 18 years as Artist and Designer for two of the worlds biggest surf companies, Rip Curl and Quiksilver. A surfer himself the surf influence is also seen in his work with the surfboard itself often used as the ‘canvas”.
