back earlier from afternoon shopping and dinner in Shenzhen ... seemed a good idea to cheer-up with today's dreary weather ...

shopping was pretty routine stuff ... just haggling around Lo Wu Commercial City for some new socks and some regular tailoring needs ...

so, on the eve of the PRC's 60th Anniversary, it seemed fitting to have dinner at a place named Chairman Mao's Restaurant, which my ex-boss had recommended that i must try out ...

the menu consists of all Mao's favorite dishes ... it is authentic Northern & Sichuan cooking styles ... rich, spicy and strong flavors ...

traditional chilli, garlic & vinegar dressed cucumber ( 拍黃瓜 )

glutinous rice filled lotus roots with fragrant flower honey marinade ...

Spicy Sichuan "Saliva" Chicken ( 口水鸡 )

    super fresh kale ...

    Peking Dumplings ( 鍋貼 )

the chicken was rather delicious -- haha ;oP

the restaurant is located above the Shenzhen Metro station called Gou Wu Gong Yuan ( 购物公园 ) and is just three stops away from newish Lok Ma Chau cross-border MTR station ... for me, door to door to home (North Point) via Metro --> MTR --> 112 bus ... took just 65mins with extremely passenger friendly transport interchanges ... it was my first time using the Lok Ma Chau MTR station (was so convenient) ... and defintely won't be the last time... hopefully ...

for those feeling patriotic ... HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY People's Republic of China!

Happy anniversary. You're not going up to Beijing to see the huge parade? What festivities will be taking place in HK? Fireworks?
