A couple of events and a STILL broken bone
Friday, Dec 4, 2009 4:00PM / Standard Entry
Hey there guys. I know it's been all quiet on here for a little while. But that's mostly because it's been really quiet over here for a while!Since my broken foot there really hasn't been a lot going on in Oli-land as I have been sitting around getting fat resting my foot in the hope that it will heal... which it is doing nicely. I even finally managed to get onto the elliptical machine today and FINALLY do some bloody cardio work.Oh sweet sweet cardio, How I have missed thee. Say goodbye to the marshmallow thighs and the rapidly climbing body fat.... I can finally do some exercise without shooting pain. The last few months of the year were always going to be quiet for me... so the broken foot hasn't actually cost me any work or anything. I'm still giggling away on the Epad set for our weekly show on MAX, but other than that... I've been going to an event here and there. There was the opening of the Bally store in ION Orchard, which was an amusingly decadent affair and my first public displaying of my cripply-goodness... limping all over the event on crutches with a gigantic boot on. Though, after a couple of champagnes (bottles probably) it felt much better. We got some of 'the Collective' group to come down with us... and we had a lot of fun working the room seeing everyoneThen almost right after that we also had the ROAUL spring/summer preview to go to. That event was so much fun! There was candy-floss, ice cream, chocolates and all sorts of fun fair goodies to be munched on. It went over well with the girls!RAOUL put on a really nice collection... the girls were drooling (at the clothes, not the models)Next up is a photo that is just plain awesome. I was walking through Giant with the Mrs when we spotted these:-I sure it's SUPPOSED to be saniTARY briefs. But hey, who cares. This way is much funnier, because lets be honest.... nobody wants insanity briefsOn the Epad set the other day we were shooting the Xmas episode. So the crew raided the secret HBO Christmas closet... and all sorts of goodies came out. So they decided to decorate the set a little bit. Here you can see my director getting a bit confused by the tree-skirt.... but he looks so pretty now he doesn't care.We also found a Santa suit. So guess what happenedYep.. Oli/Santa (check out the broken left foot)I then remembered that my buddy Brad lives in the building behind the studio. So I thought it would be fun to suddenly have another Santa randomly turn up in the studio. So a quick phone call later. Brad turned up.Brad's a power lifter... so SLIGHTLY bigger than me. Which became entertaining when it came time to put on the suitThat's not a belt.... that's Duct Tape. AWWWW YEAAHHHH. As you can see... we work very had on Epad... and never mess around for no reason. Yeah, right.Up next was another very entertaining night with my buddy Rico who was the producer/magic consultant on 'Cyril: Simply Magic' which I made an appearance on. Rico and I hit it off immediately, and I'm always trying to get him out for a pint or 10.Fortunately ADIDAS hosted a party for JUICE magazine's birthday at ZOUK. So we all went along.Roz, who also guested on the show also showed up... and wasn't a fan of the appletini as you can see. I almost didn't get in because ZOUK doesn't like crutches. After 10 minutes of assuring them I wasn't a terrorist they finally let me in.... with ONE. I had the coat-check the other one. LAME. As the evening wore on, I became very proud of my solo-blinged out crutchMMMM... That's a pretty picture. Our last event of the month was for Skin Inc's 2nd birthday. It's kinda like a Skin treatment bar... pretty cool idea actually. So of course, the girls descended en-masse to have a sneak peak and get a treatment.I went along too... because, well, lots of pretty girls went.Anyhoo... here is a sneak peak at our Xmas tree which we just put up... right in front of my beloved DVD collection.Happy holidays everyone. Even though it's Dec 4th.... in Singapore the decorations have been up for months already. Crazy town

Lots of fun and a broken bone
Saturday, Oct 31, 2009 10:37AM / Standard Entry
Hey there peoples.. it's been a busy couple of weeks for me... work, more work, a holiday, and broken bone and some more work...I know I haven't been on in a few weeks, but I haven't been around... and for a long time I didn't even have access to the internet..It all got started off with hosting Carrie Underwoods press conference here in Singapore. She came in to perform live on Orchard Road in celebration of the opening of Orchard Ion... the ridiculous new mall (though don't say mall to the people that own it). They must have spent an absolute fortune to bring her in... but it was my pleasure to act as host to her here. It was my first press conference and it was a good laugh actually... I was allowed to have some fun, and even made a few jokes with and at Carrie... and she was really cool about it actually. I wish I could have got a few minutes with her... but she's a superstar surrounded by angry looking people who control every second of her life... She always looks so tall on TV... but she's actually a tad bit Hobbit like. But she had some awesome boots on with immense heelsSo that was fun.... that night our good buddy Marc Nelson came into town for an audition, so he came and stayed with us at the apartment which was a good laugh. We all got some time to talk about our new venture The Collective (www.thecollective-asia.com). It's a sort of co-op where all of us members help each other out. We're all really good friends anyway, so it's good fun at the same time. We'll see how it goesThe next morning I was off the airport on the way to San Ya in China - the beach resort. I was there to be the international host for the Elite Model Look World Finals 2009. Another great honour for me to be a part of. My Sony Style Stylist was the Choreographer, and he helped me get the job, so thank you RS Danny! It was a monster event and it took days to get put together once i got there... but the production crew had been there for a MONTH!!! They were so ready to leave by the end of it! Poor them.We stayed at a pretty nice hotel (5 star supposedly).... it had nice rooms, with a great viewBut i didn't spend all that much time there... I was on location rehearsing. It was one of the bigger venues I have ever hosted in. It was called the Beauty Crown... and it's where they had Miss World and Miss Earth too. There were 67 contestants who were all super tall, and super young. I have never felt so old as when I was sitting around chatting to a group of girls... and it took 2 of them to be the same age as me. Some were very sweet, and I did my best to give them advice and make them at ease - they were very nervous. The event was great... it went off awesomely and I had a great time doing it. There was a huge crowd, 8 cameras and no script... I had to make it up, something I do enjoy doingThere was some great music, including Cyril Niccolai from Paris, who spends a lot of time in Singapore - hope to see him soonand there was last years winner and one of the judges Louise Maserlis - can you believe she is only 16!!! It's crazyAfter the event, we all piled into the buses for the after party by the pool till the early morning. I had an epic hangover the next day.... EPIC.We all partied hard... because we'd worked hard... and it was totally worth it. I love work like this. The day after I flew home... for 6 hours... and then I flew to Phuket with my family for a holiday. It was great.... I was meeting more family and even some university friends there... and THEN..... I broke my foot. sigh.Stupid Flip Flops..Never the less, I had a great time, and my foots okay. I may be on crutches, but this month is a quiet one, and I'll be up and around in no time at all.I put a pic of my cast up soonsee you guys soonOli

More AXN, Ferrari and Porsche parties
Wednesday, Sep 30, 2009 11:34AM / Standard Entry
The Red Carpet Soiree wasn't the only event that I've been to the last week or so - not by a long shot!Just before the whole F1 weekend kicked off I actually hosted an event for AXN to celebrate to milestone episode for CSI Miami and LOST.Essentially it was a fun BBQ/Piss up on the beach on Sentosa - and one of the easiest jobs I have ever had. I hadn't been at the location for 5 mins before I was handed a beer and just told to have fun with it. So I did.I have to admit I love live hosting, because I so rarely stick to the script and just end up trying to make people laugh. The crowd was great fun, and we had some great prizes to give away. There was a group of DJs from Power 98 who were great fun to hang with... and we spent most of the night eating hot dogs and drinking beer.... it's a tough life!MMM yummy, a cake in the shape of a dead person..... nice. This photo is of the lovely Tanya - who joking gave me a hard time about winning her the Grand Prize of a trip to Phuket..... weirdly enough I pulled her name out the box... now that's weird. Also note the CSI hat... which had me the target of everyone at the event begging me for it.HELL NO! It's mine... ALL MINE!AFter the success of the launch of the Collective I talked about last time, we managed to wangle invites to all sorts of events...First up was the welcome event for the Porsche Carrera Cup drivers at Society Bar.. which was great fun. Marina from the PR agency had been one of the Best Dressed winners at the Red Carpet Soiree along with my wife... so we hung out with her and got to know her better while relieving the bar of wine and yummy mini hamburgers... mmmmmmmOnly 3 of us could make it that night... Linda, Sarah and me... but it was still great fun!The next day was the first day of the Grand Prix (pics of that to come next time) and that evening I was supposed to go the Lambourghini party... but was just too tired, and saved my energy for the Ferrari party the next morning:-We snapped that pic on the way in.... by the end of the event there were about 30 more ferraris filling every space... it was NUTS.The event was to launch the new Ferrari California (pic below)which is a sexy car to say the least - almost as sexy as my lovely wife..... almostwell after a brunch of cakes and a bottle of champagne (it wasn't even 2pm) it was time for me to hit the Grand Prix again... and then I made an appearance at the official Formula One Lounge at Sterolab (no pics from there - sorry - I didn't stay long I was KNACKERED). Everyone else was watching Beyonce that night... all I saw was the Hobbit that is Bernie Eccleston (owner of Formula 1). He's like 3 feet tall. weird.Okay... up next I'll have a short blog and loads of pics from the GRAND PRIX... 3 days of AWESOME

E! Networks and AXN Red Carpet - The Start of the Madness
Tuesday, Sep 29, 2009 2:30PM / Standard Entry
Alright y'all. It has been a truly awesomely exhaustingly supreme week of insanity.I've tried to go through the pics and pull out the best to show what I've been up to... it's not easy though. There's millions of them.So things got started off last week with the AXN/E! Networks Red Carpet Soiree to celebrate the new union between the two.Of course, me being part of the AXN stable I got an invite for me and my group - and what an invite... it was a great party. This was the night that we launched a new group here in Asia- The Collective.Essentially The Collective is a brand that represents a group of 8 hosts/actors here in Asia who all have an international connection (and just so happen to be mates). You can find out more about it at www.thecollective-asia.com. I'm sure you'll recognise a lot of the faces on there from all over cable and local TV. We've all got where we are essentially separated from the agency system (a system that doesn't know how to deal with us), so we decided to get together and make a stand. So we launched it at the party - and it went down great... so much so that we woke up to invites to every event over the F1 weekend. It was time to network like crazy...Here's some pics from the night:-Three of the Collective Members above:- Sarah Davies (Miss World Australia 2004/TV host), Mohini Sule (TV host HBO + Lonely Planet) and Linda Black (HBO Signature/HBO) - all looking SMASHING!The three proud husbands - Me, Ron and BenThe girls pull a Colgate advert..Linda and I either listening intently, or drunk on champagne..... one of the twoLinda's 6th sense for a camera kicks inLinda wins best dressed in Jayson Brunsdon! A-woo-hoo!50% of the Collective (thanks to Gucci for the threads!)There are like 4 more parts of the blog to come.... I will get them up ASAPOli

It was Oli’s decision to have a two week holiday in Singapore which allowed his career to skyrocket to even more exciting levels. Oli’s quick wit and easy demeanor helped him quickly climb the ladder from local photoshoots to magazines, international adverts, commercials, corporate videos, live hosting and finally heading an array of television shows. He is now based in Singapore, and with his personal discipline for hard work, the drive for professional excellence, and dedication to teamwork and creating a quality performance, the sky is the limit for this greatly in demand and popular television host.
His television hosting career started with the UN backed environmental show ECO 4 THE WORLD which then led to him being hired as lead anchor for Starhub’s coverage of the FIFA World Cup 2006 on WORLD CUP PRIMETIME.
His ability at handling the extensive details necessary for that show caught the eye of the AXN/Animax network, who selected him to host CYBERMAX exclusively for the Animax network, a show which covered the World Cyber Games in Singapore. The improvisational, comedic nature of the show appealed to Oli’s natural showmanship and overwhelming desire to make people laugh. This effort led him into the show TECHNOMAX for AXN/Animax, a high paced, funny show in which many would have lost their way under the intensive tech-babble.
The rampant success of TECHNOMAX allowed Oli to return as host for the second season of the primetime show SONY STYLE: Season Two on AXN, a role he had originally been forced to turn down for its first year run. The success of SONY STYLE: Season Two across 20 countries and on the screens of 30 million households has turned Oli into one the region’s leading rising stars. His career has continued as host of FRIDAY PICTURE HOUSE on HBO Signature and LONELY PLANET'S BEST IN ASIA on Channel 5 Singapore and BBC Worldwide.
Oli is currently shooting Sony Style Season 3, as well as a brand new show ePAD on MAX.
Catch the premiere of Sony Style this March 24th, only on AXN - Occupation: TV/Radio Host , Model
