Announcement

  • Never in my dreams as a little child did I ever think I would come to live, work and play in Hong Kong. Born in Canada to Chinese parents, I moved here in 1994 and worked as an architect for 4 years before pursuing my greater interest in photography and art. Having published my second book themed and titled 'The Asian Male', I'm set to continue and explore all things that make this Universe as diverse and interesting as it is.

These are some images I took of Hayden, a model here in Hong Kong with a young fresh look. Styling is by my friend Patrky Chaou, and makeup by Summer Lai. The idea was very simple, to use a very light, shiny transparent material to create the feeling of movement and action. Meanwhile, for more visual interest, we decided to add a lace to his face, and a material to wrap around his hand. Photographed at Studio 8, Chai Wan, Hong Kong.

Here are some shots of Triny, one of my clients that wanted to get some shots of herself semi-nude. Shot in natural daylight and mostly on film with my Nikon F100 and Mamiya 645. I find that film create a more 'old-fashioned', three dimensional effect to photographs that digital images lack. Bokeh (out of focus) areas are simply beautiful.

Some new experimental photography with my friend Vishan, who styled and modeled the shoot. All done in my small studio here in Sheung Wan on a rather cold day. Good thing my hot lights provided some warmth. Heavily retouched from the original pics, Vishan was thought they should have been trashed, but I saw some possibilities for some interesting photos.
