Christmas Letters

I remember when I was little, I had barely learned how to read and write, but I was a firm believe of Santa Claus. So, like I had been taught in school and through my beloved movies, I made a list of all the things I wanted. I took a pen and paper and sat down to write my list by order or priority. In those days they taught us to write with pens that had ink cartridges inside of them. So I wrote my list (I probably misspelled most of my words), tore the piece of paper out my notebook and taped it against the window for Santa to see. Every now and then I would peek out to see if he was coming by to read it. Him or any of his helpers. But I never saw anyone. So I figured, okay, he probably comes while I sleep and whizzes past me because he has so much to do. The next morning I woke up to find my list ruined. The condensation of the cold window had mixed with the ink of the paper, giving the words a sad look of blue tears streaming down.

It was right then and there that I knew Santa wasn’t real.

But in the spirit of Christmas, and with my more mature and worldlier outlook on life, I have decided to write Santa once more. I figure that perhaps with the internet and all, he reads letters and blogs. So here it is:

Dear Mr. Claus,

I know a lot of people ask you for presents every year, and I know I’m not a child anymore and can get my own gifts… but I do have a request to make this year. I didn’t send you my list last year or the year before, so I’m hoping you’ll be able to take a look at my Christmas wish this season.

First of all, I really respect all you have done over the past centuries. When you were simply known as Bishop Nicholas of Myra somewhere in modern day Turkey, during the forth century, I’m sure you had a lot of fans. I mean the practice of gift giving in your name, spreading throughout all of Europe and making its way to New York at some point where some newspaper contributors and cartoonist started doing your marketing…that was a smart move, Mr. Claus! Well done! I also really like the fact that your bishop’s robes morphed into more secular outfits. That’s what I call ‘keeping the door open for all people of faith’. Respect to you, sir! I’m also glad you are so jolly and like to drink. Even your reindeer Rudolph gets the Asian glow and the red nose!

In any case, I know you usually are only able to give physical gifts: A playstation, a book of some sort, maybe a nice 85mm Nikon Nikkor lens, but I was wondering if you could make an exception this year and bring me the gift of Compassion. I like to think I have a lot of it already, but I could always use some more. I promise that I will share it with all my friends and with anyone who reads my blog and is interested in it. And it can come in whatever form or shape, too. Whatever is easiest and most convenient for you really. You don’t even have to wrap it this time. Just send it my way, and I will spread it amongst my peers.

Thank you, Mr. Claus. Happy Holidays!

Nadine

So while I sit here and wait to see if Santa reads my letter and brings me my gift, I’d like to introduce you to Miss Jittima. She decided bravely to give herself a special gift and did a boudoir session with me. Merry Christmas to her and to us!
