Hitler's Pager

 For the first time in months I was getting some A+ quality sleep.  You know what I mean. That coma kinda sleep, effortless, quick, no need for sheep counting sleep.  Out by the time your head hits the pillow sleep.  Effortless drift into la la dream land.  In dream land, anything can happen and you can do anything. Nothing is real, so nice.  Nothing  can stop you, except…must’ve been around 4:30am when that damn pager went off!  I think I was dreaming about being able to float and using my special powers to replace batteries on needy beeping fire detectors through out the world… waking up I realized the sound was from Hitler’s pager beeping over and over, and over and over.  Been awhile since I heard that sound.  You know…it’s a high pitched nagging sound. Makes your body jolt, like when you gargle salt water for a soar throat and swallow some by accident.  I think the last time I owned a pager was 1999.  Didn’t know they even made them anymore. I guess you can’t buy ring tones for pagers. I so wanted to slam that wining black piece of plastic into the wall.  Hitler must’ve realized he needed the thing back and decided he wanted it at 4:30 in the morning.  I checked the number, 10 pages from the same number.  A 213 number.  That’s east LA-ish .  I could see Hitler being from 213.  It’s 4:30 in the morning, Hitler can wait.  I went back to bed, but wide awake…Damn!  I picked up my landline phone, which has a blocked number and dialed Hitler’s number.  On the first ring someone picked up.  Someone…but not Hitler.  This guy had a French-European accent.  His English was easy to understand, all he said was “this is 52, pickup 64 th Ave and Church…midnight, tomorrow.”, then just like that Frenchy hung up.  I waited about five minutes and called the number again. It rang once and went to dead.  Weird…See, I Hitler was part of some cult, a Nazi cult!  But this is something out of bad mystery novel.  Weird, but my curiosity is peeked.  I know this may sound crazy, but I think I’m going to 64 th and Church tomorrow.  My grandfather use to tell me, “if something sits too long in one place it creates stale Chi…move your life around to invigorate your energy.”   I feel like a little invigorating.  Will let you know what happens.
