  • "The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives."

I recently found a gem in between my old VHS collection...
I knew I still had it somewhere and having such fond memories about it, even though I didn't remember much about the movie itself, it was even better then I thought it could possibly be.

    "The Little Shop of Horrors"

The story tells of Seymour Krelborn (Rick Moranis), a florist assistant, who finds a very strange but lucky plant that feeds on human blood and as long as the plant thrives, so will Seymour's life. But as the plant grows too big for him to feed, the plant suddenly asks the rather naive boy 'feed me'. And so Seymour does.

Despite my fears of it being terribly dated,  it charmed me beginning to end. The music was catchy and awesome, the characters endearing, amusing and scary (Steve Martin was gruesomely delightful as the sadistic dentist Orin Scrivello) and the overall mise-en-scene was well thought out and the animation of the plant was incredibly well done for 1986!

A real must see if you haven't already!

    In the mean time...
