Thanks to those who came out to E.Dul to see our Valentine gig last night.  I had a good time despite the fact that I'm out of practice playing in front of a crowd and the sound check dude was a wee bit doggy.  I've never heard that much feedback during a sound check!  Granted it's hard to wire up a 10 ppl band (7 plugged in ukes + 1 bass, 1 mic for the glockenspiel, 2 for percussion, 4 for vocals...)  15 channels right there, and that's just the basic as we have to share vocal mics.  Ideally, it really should be 22 channels... Nonetheless, the show came out fine.  There were two opening acts and then us the headline... we did a full set, one hour, and people were still high (or maybe just drunk) by the end of the show... never thought that you can get high on ukulele music!  I did alright, made some mistakes here and there, I had my hat on the whole time so I could block out the crowd or I just didn't look at them.

Don't know about other filmmakers, but I'm definitely becoming more agoraphobic these days during the editing stage as I've been locking myself at home/a tiny room editing day and night... it's hard for me to emerge back out into the "real" world.  It happens every time when I edit my films.  I guess it's not just filmmakers, how do other artists cope with the rest of the world when they have to immerse into their art, especially the kind of art that requires a long duration of solitude, like painting or writing...  I actually have it good this time since I'm editing at home, at least I see sunlight or the change of the day... the worst is when I had to work in an editing room where I couldn't tell time... I walked in during daytime and came out dark, that was depressing.

And if you're both claustrophobic and agoraphobic, then you're just the few lucky chosen ones, comme moi...  thank goodness my case is slight, otherwise, if I can't work with lots of people or in a small room, I guess my life as a filmmaker would be over...  anyway, that's a whole different blog.

BTW, my niece just joined AnD!  She's a lovely and talented up and coming architect.  So go on, say hi to her:  www.alivenotdead.com/reggie

    glad the show went well!

interesting re the agrophobia, kinda of like a situational case that comes on after a particular activity.

How nice to have your niece on board!
