“At a place far away…there is a lovely lady…” I think that any place where there are Asians, quite a few of them would know how to hum one or two lines of this song. Without even realizing it, this song has been circulating for over seventy years already. It’s not easy for a song to become well known among all Chinese people and to be passed down through the generations over so many years. So before I decided to sing this song, I especially used some time and effort to do some background research on this song.

Mr. Wang Luobin is a very well known and extremely outstanding Chinese musician. He has composed an innumerable number of classic songs. At the time when he composed this song, his circumstances were particularly poetic and meaningful. In the 1940’s, he once participated in making a Chinese movie called (Long Live Our Country), and it just happened by chance that Wang Luobin met a Tibetan lady at Qinghai Lake. It has been said that during the process of making the film, they fell in love with each other and they rode on a horse together by Qinghai Lake – just like what was written in the lyrics of one of his songs. At a blink of an eye, they had to part with each other. Deep in Wang Luobin’s heart, he still thinks about this lady. One time when he traveled back to Xining on a camel, he turned his head and continuously looked back, and he immediately recorded his feelings at the time and wrote it as lyrics to the song. As I was writing the explanation to this song, I could fully sense the deep and meaningful emotions that were being expressed through the song. On top of that, Yadong especially created some amazing pieces of orchestral music to accompany the song, making this classic piece of work even more meticulous to the ears, deeply touching my innermost feelings.

This is a very deep and meaningful song. The lyrics are so real and sincere as it expresses the distance that exists between what the composer visualizes as his “ideal place”. So when I rearranged this song, I didn’t emphasize on make any major changes. I tried to keep the original flavor of the song. I was deeply moved by Karen’s performance, expressing deep and exquisite emotions for this song. This also proved that her singing abilities have improved considerably. At first, I did think about rearranging this song with a strong beat to it, but after I heard her sing the song, I discovered that using the most original way to convey this song would make it very complete. Right now, I think the final product is extremely ideal.

“在那遙遠的地方 …有位好姑娘 …”我想有華人的地方，他們多少都懂得哼這首歌曲的一、兩句，不知不覺間這首歌流傳至今已經有差不多七十年的時間，一首歌可以在所有中國人聚居的地方傳頌及經歷那麼多年的歲月真的不容易，所以決定選唱這首歌曲之前，我都特別花過心思去考究這首歌的來源。

 

王洛賓先生是一位被公認非常優秀的中國音樂家，他所創作的歌曲多不勝數，而當時他在創作這首歌的時候，情景非常有詩意：他在四十年代曾參與拍攝一部中國電影《祖國萬歲》，王洛賓在青海湖邂逅了一個藏族姑娘，相傳在拍攝過程中彼此互生情愫，兩人共乘一馬，在青海湖邊奔馳，就如同歌詞中寫的一樣；轉眼間兩人就要分離，王洛賓心中還是十分惦記著這位女孩，他騎著駱駝回去西寧的時候一直不停回頭張望，他便立刻把此時的心情化成歌曲，藉以哈薩克民族的曲調創作出這首不朽之作，這一首歌後來也被歸類成一首《青海民歌》。

 

我詮釋這首歌的時候，我完全感受到歌中想要表達的情感是非常深刻的，加上亞東為歌曲打造了一個優美的管弦樂伴奏，讓這首經典作品聽起來更絲絲入扣，觸動到我內心深處 ......

這是一首感情非常深的歌，歌詞中表達作者心目中所描述“理想之地”的那份距離感實在是太真摯了。所以我在編曲的部分並不會刻意作出太大的改變，儘量保留那種原有的味道。小莫在演繹這首歌時那種細膩的情感表達是完全深深的感動到我，也印證了她在演唱方面的能力有提高了。最初我曾經想過將這首歌以一個強勁的節奏改編，不過聽到她在配唱後我才發現用最原始的東西去表達就很完整了，現在的製成品出來是非常理想的！|
