Hubei Village: a small town in a big city

I have been visiting this village for two years now. When I first discovered it, I was shocked. How could it exist right here in the heart of the city, while high rises and construction surrounded it on every side? Somehow, it has miraculously survived. Here is an article I wrote for the Shenzhen Daily about the village. Since publication, I have visited again several more times, and I am still getting conflicting accounts from the villagers. Who knows what will happen...
