  • What a weekend!

This past weekend I organized an acting class with my long-time coach from LA, Jeanne Hartman.  I invited her out to Hong Kong to teach 2 workshops.

I've known Jeanne for a long time.  She was the teacher that took me from being someone who had a lot of desire to act but was hit and miss, to being an actor that booked jobs consistently.  In fact, I booked my first guest starring role on a major network, primetime show after coaching with her.

For this reason I was really excited to introduce someone of her calibre to my friends in the "business" in HK, and to teach other HongKongers in general. I wished there had been more opportunities like this when I was growing up here, so in a way I feel like I'm giving back while at the same time, raising the bar.

Of course, I was a little nervous about putting this all together.  Would people show up?  Would Jeanne enjoy teaching in HK?  How would the students take to her?

I shouldn't have worried because they did show up!  Jeanne loved teaching them and the students have been raving about her in their blogs:  Daniel, Terence, Andrew, Josie, Race, Rosanne and Grace.

I got a tremendous kick out of watching students peform scenes and grow as actors.  It really was a safe environment for them to have the opportunity to experiment and flourish.  Although they've been in many films and have done some amazing work already, in class I saw some of the most exciting acting they've ever done.

Jeanne was able to show them the potential they all have.

I want to thank all the students for their commitment to their craft and for being so damn good!  And I want to thank Jeanne for being the caring, insightful teacher she is.  And to Daniel for letting us use his art studio.  Thank you!!

For those interested, there's still some space left in this coming weekend's class with Jeanne.  Click HERE for more information.

Also, we'll be having a 'meet and greet' on Thursday night where you can ask Jeanne about acting or the business in general.  She'll have information about agents in Los Angeles too.  Click HERE for more information.

    Jason

I would really like to take an acting class.  We're all necessarily acting at different times in our lives.  It would be helpful to be more convincing!
