    IdN v17n4: The 100th Issue
    10 DESIGNERS / 10 CURATORS

    MOTION: IdN 100th

Get down, IdN friends, it's party time!

As the World Cup footballers have demonstrated, there are almost as many ways to celebrate as there are human beings to dream them up. To mark the publication of this our 100th issue, we opted to invite a bunch of world-class studios and individual artists to create a one-minute film each, hanging them on the theme 'Celebrate the 100th issue of IdN!'. The result? A collection of 30 riveting movies tailor-made by our creative friends such as Addictive TV, Dvein, Kultnation, PostPanic, Kousuke Sugimoto, UVPHactory and many more. Just to see these pros going through their inspirational paces with such distinctive style is a rare pleasure. So have yourselves a ball — they did!

Celebrating 100 issues: The view from the top

We have asked 10 top-of-the-class creatives to answer a couple of questions Ð how do they view today's design scene, and what advice would they offer newcomers to it? Not only that, but our Top 10 have been generous enough to pick out 10 peers whose work they believe deserves greater prominence for your enjoyment. A feast of inspiration, then, for everybody in the art and design business.

    Featuring:
Antoine+Manuel | Big Active | eBoy | Maurice Broomfield | Jason Brooks | Paul Budnitz | Stanley Donwood | David Dowton | Non-Format | Genevieve Gauckler | Marcus Hofko aka The Rainbowmondey | John Jay | Jeremyville | kennardphillipps | Elisabeth Kopf | Simon Oosterdijk | Tom Sachs | Stefan Segmeister | Peter Stemmer aka Peekasso | Viktor Timofeev

    Creative Country: China
Coming to terms with a cultural legacy

With 5,000 years of culture behind it, and half a century of socialist censorship, where does China now stand in terms of the international design scene? We talk to some of the most distinctive voices among that country's contemporary creatives to see how the past has influenced them - and what they think the future holds.

    Featuring:
Chen Man | Jennifer Wen Ma | Liu Zheng | Maleonn | Qiu Yang | Resonance Design Group | Sense Team | Super Nature | Xia Yu | Mei Shuzhi

    Exhibitionism: PICK Me Up
A 'first' for the UK - but it certainly won't be the last

London has held its first-ever contemporary graphic-art fair, called Pick Me Up. The work of some 20 or so up-and coming international designers and illustrators was exhibited Ð and it was all for sale. Other attractions included a peep into paper designer Rob Ryan's transplanted studio and a screen-printing workshop.

    Studio: Toykyo
Made in Belgium, inspired by Japan

No, it is not a mis-spelling, Toykyo is the name of a Belgium-based creative agency that specialises in toys and is deeply fond of all things Japanese. It now represents some of the best-known names in contemporary graphic design and illustration.
