What is the price of Conscience?

my squadron gave me the morning off yesterday so i could go do a shoot at Sim Lim Square - a  shopping centre renowned for IT and electronics products. ( i can't talk about the shoot at  the moment... but you'll see it soon enough i'm told )

On previous occasions, i have always parked my bike on the pavement outside the building. Typically for no longer than 30min cos i dun like shopping so it's just grab and go. Strictly speaking, that's not legal...i mean parking on the pavement. One could get fined $70  for that. But lots of people do it anyway and so far, it'd worked out fine.

But not yesterday. Yesterday, i thought i'd do the right thing. There're a few legit parking slots along this 1-way side-street beside the building just 50 m away. And since it's early in the morning, practically unoccupied. My new-found conscience compelled me park over there. The minute i got off my bike and was reaching for my parking coupons, this traffic policeman rode up and asked for my licence and ID.

Apparently, i'd committed 3 violations: ignoring the NO-ENTRY sign, riding against traffic ( wrong way on a 1-way street ), and worst of all...  evading ERP ( Electronic Road Pricing )

I stopped short of going on my hands and knees, begging for clemency. It worked. I would not be charged for the first 2 violations BUT he wouldn't let me off that easy on the last one. My heart sank when told there'd be a $200 fine for this, my first offence.  If ever i'm caught again, it'd be $500....

So...what IS the price of Conscience?

Between $130 to $200.
