Happy Birthday

It was my birthday yesterday.

yay!

I ended up taking a personal retreat and fasted.

Entering into the age of 30 I felt a sense of peace and expectancy. Jesus was thirty when he started his ministry, and so were many others when God annointed them.

Back in the day when a son turned 30, the father would tell the community, “this is my son whom I’m well pleased.”

I’m really happy with life, and though it’s not everything I want, I have a sense of peace about where I’m going. I just finished reading Pastor Phillip’s book “Before 30.” My what an amazing life. It’d be easy to fall into comparing myself and say I’m so far behind him. But I know that the Lord has his specific calling in my life. I look at the last few years of my life, and I’m so happy that I met the Holy Spirit. I cannot imagine life to be any more fulfilling then this. I know God has used me to change peoples lives. To help people come out of depression and into joy. People that are walking towards death, and are able to find life. At the end of the day isn’t that what we’re all looking for, meaning?

“There is no greater love than this, but to give your life for a friend.”

I believe that loving people, friends, family, strangers and seeing the fruit of your labor is the greatest satisfaction in life. To be able to say, God used me to help this person. I know my Father in heaven is saying, “Good job Ed! I’m well pleased, keep it up!”

The greatest gift that God could give is life. For God so loved me that he gave his only son Jesus. That if I believe in him, I can have eternal life.

Lord, thank you for the gift of life.
