not saying much :)

blimey what a week ... out friday as usual doing my thing, remixing all day Saturday (into Sunday morning) pausing to watch A. Takovsky's "Stalker" (1979?) the version I got hold of had the original Russian dubbed into Italian and French subtitles... neither language of which do I understand very well... so it took a while to figure out was was going on. despite that it's one of the best looking films I've ever seen. then a Chinese wedding (a whole lot of eating but not a lot of food) and (my god) karaoke* on Sunday evening with lots of booze into early Monday morning... up lunchtime sharp to start recording then big French dinner at Le Marron in CWB (great spot) with 35+ friends and business associates on monday night, recording all day yesterday then off to watch Harry Plot-less The Boredom of the Peoples (the weakest film of the series, but still a good watch) and here we are today, 5 days since my last post on AnD. And it feels like I've got nothing done.

*(sideline: karaoke... what the hell is going on. I understand the 'sitting in a room which isn't your flat and isn't a bar getting drunk in private with friends thing' what I don't understand is the keen interest otherwise seemingly happy teenage and early-20's girls take in singing utterly MISERABLE love ballads. every flippin' track had some depressed woman staring longingly out of an apartment window, walking along a desolate beach in the rain, waiting at an empty train station ... c'mon! fucking cheer up! no wonder your man left you - you're bloody insufferable. anyway, this wasn't a rant, just an observation... only the second time I've been in 8 years so I'm not due back again until sometime in 2011)

in other news, my album is getting down to the wire, decided at the last minute to put vocals on one more track (got Quan from aussie rock band Regurgitator to lay down some Reznor-esque whinings) and managed to write one more song last week which is good enough to include... brings the count up to 13 songs and 47 minutes. much better. still hammering away on our music videos... it's hard with no budget but the people who have agreed to help so far have been fucking incredible and my small original idea has ballooned out into something pretty cool... if the MV comes out half as good as it should, then I'll still be happy with it. got some very special guests with cameo roles... more info on that later... will be fun... probably not coming to a karaoke near you. all I need to do now is learn this copy of Final Cut Pro and we're away.

edit:  just proving my opinion that you don't need guitars to make rock. no that's not me. the beard and love of electronic wizardry are purely coincidental.
