FIFTY FIVE DSL TemporART STORE, located at Shop 3A, 2-4 Kingston Street, Causeway Bay, is NOW OPEN!Always championing renegade style, fresh design and independent music, 55DSL — led by Creative Director Andrea Rosso — recruited Italian artist Turbokrapfen and Italian DJ-duo The Bloody Beetroots to christen the opening last Friday, July 24, 2009.

FIFTY FIVE DSL TemporART STORE — specially decorated by Turbokrapfen in his graphic, illustrative style — will be open for 2 months only, until end-September 2009. It will showcase the latest 55DSL Autumn/Winter 2009 men’s and women’s fashion and accessories collections. A special limited-edition “55DSL x The Bloody Beetroots x Turbokrapfen” nylon windbreaker (HK$1,500) and Hong Kong-only released T-shirt (HK$300) is also available(while stocks last).To launch the

Since 2001, Diesel has been seeking and promoting new music talent. A competition headed by an international jury, and offering incredible publicity support and worldwide exposure has rocketed many bands to stardom, including Mylo, Diplo and The Cool Kids among others.
In 2009, DIESEL:U:MUSIC is back – and it’s bigger than ever – with new incentives and effective platforms to support the music business and unknown talents.

Discover, download and share tracks from a rapidly expanding international community of the best new music artists. Popular music rises as the community decides what they like most, and users influence which artists will get additional support from the many benefits and opportunities on offer. Musicians, no matter what their music style get a platform to host their music, promote news and events and connect with existing and new fans from a vast international music hungry community.
AN INTERNATIONAL TOUR
D:U:M is unique in offering two artists or bands the opportunity to headline their own international tour. Not just a chance to play live in front of thousands, but also to travel to some of the most important cities around the world. Oh, and not to mention be supported by some very well known, established artists! WANT TO GO ON TOUR??? Simply make a prodile and then upload a minimum of three tracks to your profile on Diesel:U:Music. All artists with the minimum amount of uploaded tracks on June 5th will be eligible for consideration.
The winning acts chosen to join the tour will be selected by an international jury of highly respected musicians and music industry representatives.

55DSL “I Want My Señor Blanco” + Cut&Paste HK Recap

Last Friday, Hong Kong hosted the Cut&Paste digital design tournament at the China Resources building in Wan Chai. The competition was fierce and MC Gold Mountain did a spectacular job MCing the event, decked out in our 55DSL spring/summer '09 gear!
55DSL was there in full force as the global sponsor and we had a great time! We had our very own 2D Audience Design Contest, where we set up Apple computers and let people design their own 55DSL "Fifth Dimension" t-shirt graphic. The global winner of the ADC competition gets an all expense paid trip to NYC to see the Cut&Paste global championships on June 20th AND a unique chance to design the next 55DSL x Yoox.com Capsule Collection (all the details here).
We also had a VERY special and EXCLUSIVE treat for our HONG KONG audience! We held the very first 55DSL “I Want My Señor Blanco” contest at this year's Cut&Paste. We gave the audience a "hands on" chance to work on their own design for our Señor Blanco toy. And then we had a free lucky draw for entering and also free instant photos! The turnout was amazing! We had people sitting on the floor, using their friend's backs as a tables...it was so fun! (Look Below)
We had over 250 amazing Señor Blanco submissions at the event and we are still accepting new submissions at the 55DSL store until Friday, May 29th. Just stop by the store and ask for a Señor Blanco outline to draw (like the one above)!
From Friday, June 5th until Monday, June 15th, we will be showcasing 55 of the most creative and kickass designs at the 55DSL store.
ALSO During this time, the top 5 designs will be chosen through VOTING ONLY at the 55DSL store in
PRIZES!
The top 5 design winners will receive a VASAVA X 55DSL X ATOM PLASTIC SEÑOR BLANCO toy. Total number of Señor Blanco toys produced and numbered is 1,555 in the world and they will not be sold in
ONE GRAND PRIZE WINNER, chosen by the 55DSL team, will also receive a custom 55cm tall Señor Blanco toy made from their winning design! Only 1 will be produced and showcased at the 55DSL store, and then it’s all yours!

Diesel:U:Music x The Strawberry Festival (BEIJING)

Modern Sky Entertainment proudly presents The Strawberry Festival -- May 1-3, 2009 at Tongzhou Canal Park in Beijing. The music and art festival will feature 60+ bands on three stages. International acts set to perform include Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, Panther, Joanna Wang, Rebuilding the Rights of Statues, Brain Failure, along with up and coming local talent. The overall theme of the event is "music + sustainable and eco-friendly living in China.” Various genres of music will be represented - including rock, pop, and folk - on two stages, with a third stage showcasing electronic and dance music.
Diesel:U:Music is happy to support the first annual Strawberry Festival, which will be held annually in addition to the Modern Sky Festival, China's biggest music and art festival in October. "The Strawberry Festival promises to be three days of music, clean air (hopefully), unexpected love...a great springtime event," says Modern Sky Founder Shen Lihui.
