I'm still in production of my new movie "Ud Af Moeket". It's going well but keeping me pretty busy these days!
When I have some free time I try to catch up on new movie releases or tv shows that I've missed out on..
I recently found an episode of the Discovery show FIGHT QUEST. I had been meaning to watch a certain episode of this show as I knew they would feature the system of Wing Chun AND that my own Si-Suk would be featured in the episode!!
I've trained in martial arts since I was 7 years old. I started training Karate with my brother. Then moved to a self defense school where they taught a mix of Karate, Jiu-Jitsu and Aikido. Did that for a couple of years. But other activities soon took over in my early teens. Skateboarding was in and the martial arts took a backseat.. BUT only for a very short while..
I have as far back as I can remember been a fan of Bruce Lee.. Who hasn't;) And like most fans who studied Bruce Lee's martial arts career I knew that he had started training in the system of Wing Chun. I was therefore very excited when a peer of mine took me to an introduction class in this art! My instructor and "Si-Suk" at that time was Danish/Korean Wing Tsun master Jung Soo Park (Now Sifu Park). This was back in 1993 when i was 13 years old. Si-Suk Park was only 6 years older than me. He was very young but was already known as a very talented martial artist and instructor.
After my first class I was hooked!! I trained obsessively for the next several years. This was not a hobby but a life style to me. After a while Si-Suk Park made me his assistant instructor at one of his schools and through the years we became great friends and "brothers"!
I later moved to Japan and followed my passion becoming an actor. Sifu Park soon joined me in Asia and moved to Korea where he has established the first Wing Tsun Academy.
We still get together when we can meet at the right continent;) And he still finds time to "beat" me up on that occasion , when we are not busy watching Donnie Yen's "Kung Fu Master" tv-show;)
I should explain the different spelling of Wing Chun to Wing Tsun that I've made. Different lineages of the system has chosen various ways of spelling themselves. I was trained in the Leung Ting Wing Tsun system. Grandmaster Leung Ting is a student of Yip Man an is also featured in the episode of FIGHT QUEST.
Through the years I have also trained other martial art systems and met many talented instructors and fighters. But watching that Wing Chun episode really threw me back in time and I remembered why I fell in love with the art in the first place.
I would also like to credit my Si-Suk with showing me how hard training and stamina can make you achieve your goals. I certainly have learned from that and still apply that skill in my career as an actor and film-maker!

David Sakurai is a Japanese/Danish actor born and raised in Denmark. He moved to Japan and received his theatrical training in Tokyo. Thus began his acting career in Japan, honing his skills in the indie film scene in Tokyo.
After relocating back to Denmark, David proved himself a strong, versatile actor having been cast in supporting roles in drama, comedy, and action.
However, still facing adversity in the Danish industry by being typecast for his “foreign” look, he undertook the heavy task by writing, acting, producing, and directing his own material. Having a desire to not only penetrate the Danish market and industry, David has set his sights on creating work with international appeal.
Ud Af Moerket (Through Darkness)is his first feature film creation that exemplifies this. He will be in front and behind the camera manning the script, cast, and crew as the lead actor and director.
