Danny Glover, you right

I played ball for the first time as a 27 year old tonight and got outplayed thoroughly by a bunch of high school kids. At first, I was embarrassed and ashamed. Afterall, 27 is supposed to be when you're in your athletic prime, right? That's how it is for all pro sports...

But then after a bit of thinking, I realized that the "26 to 30 is an athlete's prime" logic only applies when you're getting paid to be an athlete. Otherwise, if you an average joe with a job, your athletic prime is 17 to 22. Then you get fat.

So I'm gonna quote the immortal Danny Glover from Lethal Weapon here...

"I'm too old for this shit" Anyway. Yeah. Turned 27 last week. Remember when we were teens, 27 seemed so old and far away? Well that shit creeps up on you. Kinda. On one hand I still remember high school stuff like it was yesterday, but then I have also learned so much the past 10 years. Almost all the valuable lessons I've learned were from life and not from school though.

If we asked our 17 year old selves where we thought our live would be at 27, the answers would probably be drastically different. At 17, we considered 27 old so we probably woulda thought we would have settled and have a career and all that. I mean my 17 year old self never would have predicted that I'd be in Hong Kong. But plenty of my friends still don't know what they're doing--which really isn't that ridiculous in this day and age. People tend to think negative of that but who are they to say? Sam Jackson didn't "make it" as an actor until he was what, 43? And here he is--the badddest motherfucker on earth.

But you know what, if my 17 year old self can meet me now, he'd like it. He'd give me a high five. Then we'd do that Fresh Prince/Jazz "pshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" thing afterwards.
