Friendship first, Competition second

This has been an amazing Olympic Games with some of the greatest athletes in this era competing against each other.  Superb athletes come from every corner of the world.....we have also seen in this Games that there is a lot of training in different countries and athletes changing countries in order to have a better chance to compete........it is no longer only large countries that will dominate in sports but small countries can also compete.......Jamaica has burst onto the world stage as a track power..........some things remain the same but also some changes occurred.  The redeemed Team showed that can play Basketball at the World level.......defeating Spain by 118-107......it was a very narrow margin of victory....one of the best games ever played.

Thr Redeemed Team finally is victorius....winning the Gold Medal in the final round against Spain.

US also surprised Brazil in the Gold Medal Match.............. two sets to none.........a very emotional win, had special meaning especially with the stabbing death of the US Coach's father in law.  It was the first indoor volleyball Gold Medal in 20 years for the USA.

Usain Bolt the fastest man  on Earth took time out from competition to do what these Games are really about.....friendship....as he donated $50,000 to the children of Sichuan in the earthquake zone so that they can rebuild the schools there.

Usain Bolt might be flamboyant...but he knows children....donatres to the Sichuan Earthquake victims.

While there has been great stories....there has also been some incredibly bad sportsmanship.......

During the Taekwando Match, Cuba's Matos kicks the official in the head over a disgreement. The IOC and the Taewando Federation may ban him from further world competition.

China swpt all the medals in Ping Pong....a sport they have dominated since it became an Olympic sport.

Kanaeva from Russia continues Russia's Dominance in Rhythmic Gymnastics.......she had the highest difficulty of all the gymnastic athletes during the Olympic Games scoring 18.520 in her performance.

Too bad we did not get to see wushu, but it is interesting to note the the winners of the wushu competition represent not the current style of wushu but the old school....with Liu Yang. Han Jing............representing the old school......so where will wushu go....we will have to wait for after the Olympics to see what changes will be made to wushu....

The Games closed with the awarding of the Marathon Gold Medal won by Kenya in a new world record shaving almost 3 minutes off the old record.

This Games can be seen as a success for China.......but keep in mind this is only the beginning,,,,,,,,,,already American Press is wondering why China was given the Games since nothing seemed to change.....e.g. more democracy............that's again not something you can change only the people of China can do that....hopefully by opening up China it's people will see the need to make those changes...............you can already see what they can do...what happens next is up to them...........but you have seen what the creative power of the Chinese People can accomplish.....Ok....I am going to watch the closing Ceremony...cya!!

Flagday-yep that's my hope too.......won't be easy, but if you can transform the way China looks, you can also change the way it does things.......and I do like blue skies too!!

JRS....no wushu vids, cuz NBC has removed them all from Youtube......which makes no sense since they did not broadcast it anyway! But you can ask Cass she found some in a Norwegian website!
