浪蕩於真實世界與戲劇舞台，利維特遊戲人間樂此不疲。今次帶同珍寶金和謝拉婷卓別靈一齊闖進私人豪宅神秘迷宮，與舞台導演排演新劇，現實戀事與虛構情愛兜兜轉轉，戲中戲中戲只有開場沒有終結。利維特將世界當作舞台，亦以舞台比喻世界，顛覆秩序，推倒重構，徹底暴露人間情感的錯綜複雜。

在7月2日的映後談，講者劉偉霖談到 #利維特 喜將同一演員置於不同電影中作角色延伸，如Kalfon於《狂戀》及《真幻的愛》同樣飾演劇作家，前者寂寂無聞，後者名成利就。另一特色是將神話如〈藍鬍子傳說〉及〈但丁神曲〉融入故事中，與人物劇情互相呼應。

One of #Rivette’s most accessible films, LOVE ON THE GROUND is a reflection on theatre and life, mixed with playful references to haunted-house thrillers and mysterious-mansion whodunnits. #JaneBirkin and #GeraldineChaplin play the two amateur actresses who come to a famous playwright’s mansion to perform a work-in-progress that seems to mirror the author’s own life. A play within a play, and no one knows how it will end...

In the post-screening talk held on 2 Jul, critic William Lau mentioned that Rivette commonly featured the same actor in different films for character development and story extension. Myths were often poetically interwoven into his characters and narratives, like Bluebeard folktale and Dante’s The Divine Comedy were used to reflect the intricate love relationship in LOVE ON THE GROUND.
