哪有導演會拍一個智障監犯掙扎求存的故事，以及一個卑微小兵走向自毀之路？或許，就只有荷索。以精神病患者布魯諾顛沛流離的真實故事為藍本，走到《觸目驚心》變態殺人狂原型Ed Gein的故鄉拍攝，再加入鐵籠裏的雞停不了的機械式跳舞，怪人怪景怪事，打造了極其詭異的《史楚鍚流浪記》。野蠻好友寇斯金斯基在《胡錫傳》中則成了脆弱與暴烈並存的狂人，外在卑微與內在瘋狂各走極端，情人之不忠最終令身心崩潰，自取滅亡。

在1月27日的座談會，影評人朗天和李焯桃談到荷索銀幕內外皆以瘋狂見稱，無視世俗，拒絕妥協；通過拍攝現場與演員的直接互動，展現大自然的原始生命力，創造出震撼而令人動容的故事。

Who else but #WernerHerzog would make films about a mentally disabled ex-prisoner who struggles to begin a new life in America, and a lowly soldier who is afflicted by social oppression and finally driven to murder and self-destruction? Inspired by the true life story of Bruno S., and shot in the hometown of Ed Gein, the murderer who inspired PSYCHO, #STROSZEK is one of the oddest films ever made. Klaus Kinski incarnates the tragic hero in #WOYZECK, with his wide-eyed tormented expression perfectly reflecting the terror by the metaphysical rumblings that come from within.

In the seminar held on 21 Jan, critics Long Tin and Li Cheuk-to said that Herzog has a reputation of going to extremes to realize his vision of “ecstatic truth.” Through improvisation and interaction with actors, he has created a body of works immersed in a universe filled with raw energy that are at once stunning and perplexing.
