#metoo 運動如火如荼，加拿大電影《#叛逆黑紗》亦展現女性創作力。導演薩達芙科萊紀借鑑自身經歷，創作伊朗少女雅花的角色，以充滿張力的鏡頭調度，刻劃品學兼優的乖乖女如何被專制社會及封建家庭逼至近乎窒息，憤而反抗爭取自主自由。科萊紀首執導筒鋒芒畢露，成為女性導演生力軍。她將於3月20日及22日出席映後談，與觀眾交流經驗。

加拿大紀錄片亦多采多姿，《綠林鬥士》展現環保鬥士的抗爭歷程，《爆肌六壯士》窺探肌肉猛男的個人生活。劇情片《黑風箏》及提名奧斯卡的動畫佳作《持家小木蘭》，則從不同角度看阿富汗社會民生與動人經歷。

Amid the #metoo movement, Canadian film #AVA comes timelier than ever. Director Sadaf Foroughi brings an unflinching voice to her insightful feature debut AVA, which depicts an Iranian teenager who rebels against her conservative family and claustrophobic society to fight for freedom and independence. Foroughi will share her experience in a meet-the-audience session after the screenings on 20 and 22 March.

The diversity and creativity of Canadian directors are also demonstrated in the programme’s two documentaries, SILAS and A SKIN SO SOFT, as well as two co-productions, BLACK KITE and Oscar-nominated animation THE BREADWINNER, both reflect the everyday life in Afghanistan.
